Description
The present invention relates to a light emitting diode device, and more particularly, to a light emitting diode device having improved light emission efficiency by forming a light reflection surface on a package body made of a transparent epoxy resin.
Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are widely used as self-luminous display devices. LED is known to be the most promising small size and thin display device, and the use of incandescent bulbs as a light source is being started to be replaced as the brightness and reliability are secured to some extent. Since LEDs are semiconductor devices, they have a long lifespan, are not emitting light due to heat or discharge, and thus have very high lighting speeds, and have good electric-light conversion efficiency. In addition, since there is no filament like a light bulb, the impact resistance is excellent, and it does not suddenly break. Since the device itself is a very small light emitting source, the LED can be miniaturized and thinned, and since the light emission spectrum is narrow, there is an advantage of securing a monochromatic light source and good visual recognition.
As described above, in order to apply LED to the light source field or use for display, it is necessary to reduce light loss and maximize luminous efficiency.
An object of the present invention is to increase the luminous efficiency of a light emitting diode device.
Another object of the present invention is to reduce the light loss of the light emitting diode device and to increase the forward straightness and color mixing effect of the light.
In order to achieve the above object, a light emitting diode device of the present invention includes a light emitting diode chip, a substrate having the anode pattern and the cathode pattern on which the light emitting diode chip is mounted and electrically connected to the light emitting diode chip, and a light emitting diode chip on the substrate. It includes a package body for protection. Here, the package body includes a first body portion consisting of a surface arranged in a direction parallel to the surface of the substrate and a second body portion consisting of a surface arranged in a direction perpendicular to the substrate surface, the second body portion The reflecting surface is formed. The light reflecting surface may be formed by applying white ink or silver ink material to the second body portion of the package body made of transparent epoxy resin.
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
구현예Embodiment
1 is a perspective view of a light emitting diode device according to the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line 2A-2A ′ of FIG. 1.
The LED chip 10 is surface mounted on the substrate 20. The LED chip 10 is die bonded by epoxy adhesive or the like to a substrate 20 such as a lead frame or a PCB. An anode pattern 30 and a cathode pattern 40 are formed on the substrate 20, and the LED chip 10 is surface-mounted so that the bottom surface of the chip 10 is attached onto the cathode pattern 40 of the substrate 20. . Through the wire bonding process, the anode and the cathode of the LED chip 10 are electrically connected to the anode pattern and the cathode pattern through the bonding wire 50, respectively.
The package body 60 is formed of a transparent mold on the LED chip and the substrate on which the wire bonding is completed. The package body 60 may be formed by transfer molding or injection molding of a transparent epoxy resin such as an epoxy molding compound (EMC). The transparent epoxy resin may use an epoxy resin polymer having a refractive index of about 1.5. The epoxy resin constituting the package body 60 is not only transparent but also needs to have good thermal stability and excellent mechanical properties. For example, a thermally curable two-minute liquid system composed of bisphenol-A epoxides or alicyclic epoxides and anhydrides may be used as the epoxy resin.
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the package body 60 is arranged in a direction perpendicular to the substrate surface and the first body portion 65, which is composed of surfaces arranged in a horizontal direction with respect to the surface 25 of the substrate 20. The second body portion 67 is composed of a predetermined surface, the light reflecting surface 70 of the present invention is formed on the second body portion (67). This light reflecting surface 70 may be formed by applying white ink or silver printing material to the side 67 of the package body 60 made of transparent resin. The package body 60 is generally rectangular parallelepiped as shown in the figure, and the second body portion 67 on which the light reflecting surface 70 is formed has an angle ranging from 80 degrees to 90 degrees with respect to the surface 25 of the substrate 20. Can be maintained. On the other hand, although not shown in the drawings, it is also possible that the package body 60 as a whole, rather than the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped, it is sufficiently possible to have a hat-shaped curved surface if one of ordinary skill in the art It will be easy to understand.
When the light reflecting surface 70 is formed on the package body 60 as described above, light emitted from the light emitting diode chip 10 is reflected on the light reflecting surface as indicated by the arrow in FIG. 2 and is externally provided through the first body 65. Since the light is emitted from the light source, the light loss through the side surface 67 of the package body is reduced, thereby increasing the luminous efficiency of the entire device. Therefore, the brightness of the light emitting diode element is increased and light straightness to the front is improved. In addition, in the case of a light emitting diode having two or more chips that emits two or more colors, the color mixing effect is increased by the diffuse reflection by the light reflecting surface 70, so that one peak of a monochromatic wavelength appears clearly.
In the light emitting diode device according to the present invention, a light reflecting surface is formed to reduce light loss, increase luminous efficiency and brightness, improve light forwardness, and increase color mixing effect.
