Abstract

PURPOSE: A method for controlling an automatic gain of a mobile phone is provided to reduce power consumption and time required for stabilizing a gain value in automatically controlling a gain of discontinuous receiving signals by using an AGC gain previously stored. CONSTITUTION: If a system is turned on, it is confirmed whether an effective receiving signal is inputted(S1). If so, an AGC(Automatic Gain Controller) is driven at a predetermined offset gain value(S2). When the effective receiving signal is interrupted, the current AGC output gain value is stored and the AGC is stopped(S3-S5). It is confirmed whether the effective receiving signal is inputted(S6). If so, the AGC is driven again at the stored AGC output gain(S7). It is confirmed whether the AGC driving stoppage is requested(S8).

Description

휴대폰의 자동이득조절 방법{AUTOMATIC GAIN CONTROLLING METHOD IN MOBILE PHONE}How to adjust your phone's automatic gain {AUTOMATIC GAIN CONTROLLING METHOD IN MOBILE PHONE}

The present invention relates to an automatic gain control technique for a received signal in a wireless communication device such as a mobile phone. In particular, when automatically adjusting the gain of a discontinuous received signal, the power consumption of the receiving device is reduced and the time required to stabilize the gain value is shortened. It relates to a method of controlling the automatic gain of a mobile phone so that it can

In general, an automatic gain controller (AGC) refers to a device that detects a change in the amplitude of an input signal of a wireless receiver or an amplifier and automatically adjusts the gain so that the amplitude of the output signal is always maintained.

Figure 1 shows the type of AGC driving method according to the prior art.

That is, when the input signal is the same as (a) of FIG. 1, (b) illustrates a method of driving the AGC regardless of the presence or absence of a received signal.

즉, 수신단에 이득(gain) 적용을 하지 않는 방법이다.(c) shows a method of turning off the AGC in a section in which there is no reception signal. In other words, the gain is not applied to the receiver.

Also, (d) illustrates a method of freezing AGC operation in a section in which no reception signal exists. That is, the AGC output gain is freezed to the last gain value of the section in which the received signal exists without detecting the signal level of the receiver.

However, in the conventional AGC driving method, regardless of the presence or absence of a received signal, the AGC driving method has a large power consumption at the receiving end and starts the next reception valid period due to gain control for unwanted dummy signal input. Rather, there was a defect that took time to stabilize the gain. In addition, the method that does not apply the gain to the receiving end can minimize the power consumption of the receiving end, but there is a defect that can not secure the gain necessary for gain stabilization because it operates in the initial state of AGC in the next validity period. In addition, the method of freezing the AGC operation in a section in which there is no reception signal takes more time to gain gain stabilization than the two methods, and power consumption has a lot of disadvantages compared to the second method.

Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to use the previously stored AGC gain when the valid signal starts to be input again and restart the AGC, thereby minimizing the power consumption and minimizing the time required for stabilizing the gain in the next reception valid period. It is to provide an automatic gain control method of a mobile phone that enables.

Figure 1 (a)-(d) is an explanatory diagram showing an automatic gain adjustment method according to the prior art.

Figure 2 (a), (b) is an explanatory diagram showing an automatic gain adjustment method according to the present invention.

Figure 3 is a signal flow diagram showing the processing of the automatic gain adjustment method of the mobile phone according to the present invention.

The automatic gain control method of the mobile phone according to the present invention includes a first step of driving an AGC with a preset offset gain value when a valid reception signal is input after the system is powered on; A second step of confirming that the input of the valid received signal is blocked, storing the current AGC output gain value, and then stopping AGC driving; A third process of re-establishing the AGC with the stored AGC gain value by confirming that the valid received signal is input again, see FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 attached to the process of the automatic gain adjustment method of the present invention. When described in detail as follows.

(S1,S2)When the system is powered on, it checks whether a valid received signal is being input, and if it is determined that the input signal is being input, drives AGC with a preset AGC offset gain.

(S3-S5)Thereafter, if it is determined that the valid received signal is continuously input, and it is determined that the input signal is being input, the AGC is continuously driven. If it is determined that the input signal is not input, the AGC is stopped after storing the current AGC output gain value. (S3-S5)

(S6,S7)Thereafter, if it is determined that a valid reception signal is input again, and it is determined that the input signal is being input, the AGC is driven again with the stored AGC output gain.

As described above, in the AGC driving, hysteresis is maintained with respect to the valid signal which starts to be input again, thereby minimizing power consumption and shortening the gain stabilization time as much as possible.

(S8)While driving AGC through this process, if there is an AGC driving off request, the AGC driving control process is terminated, and if there is no off request, the process returns to the third step S3 and repeats the above-described processing. )

As described in detail above, the present invention stores the AGC output gain at the time when a valid received signal is blocked, and then re-drives the AGC using the stored AGC gain when a valid signal is input again, thereby reducing power consumption. This minimizes the time and reduces the time required for stabilizing gain in the next reception validity period as much as possible.
