Abstract

PURPOSE: A method for judging an error disk of a disk player is provided to quickly judge whether a disk has an error while the disk is inserted into a disk player, by using a PI(Pull In) signal level. CONSTITUTION: An actuator optically picks up a disk set within a disk player, and reads information recorded on the disk(10). An error disk judge extracts a PI signal from an optical pickup signal supplied from the actuator(12). The error disk judge decides whether a level of the extracted PI signal is out of a preset setup value range(14). If not, a servo lock is attempted(16). A normal process is performed(18). If the level of the extracted PI signal is out of the preset range, the disk is decided as an error disk(20).
