Abstract

PURPOSE: A method and a device for controlling DVD functions in the case of telephone call are provided to automatically stop playing of an optical disc or reduce volume without any key manipulation when a user has to receive a telephone call, thereby preventing the DVD system from bothering the user. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling DVD functions in the case of telephone call includes the steps of setting options relating to the operation of a DVD system(210), checking whether the DVD system is in operation after the initial user setting is finished(220), and, if so, periodically checking whether telephone call signals are sensed via a telephone input terminal(230). In the option for the case of telephone call, the user sets 'mute', 'volume down', 'DVD stop', 'DVD stop after a predetermined time'. As the telephone call signal is sensed, the DVD system is converted into the operation mode set by the user(240). In the other case, DVD playing operation is continued in the default mode(250).
