Abstract

PURPOSE: A fuel gauge having self-diagnosing function is provided to simultaneously control the fuel gauge and a warning lamp by a microcomputer without a fuel-warning sensor and to modify a resistance input way of the fuel gauge into a voltage signal way of which operation range is fixed. CONSTITUTION: A fuel gauge(21) having self-diagnosing function is composed of a sender unit(10) having a fuel level sender(11) with the defined operation range of a float in a fuel pump and installed to the fuel pump, and a meter cluster(20) comprised with a microcomputer(23) operating the fuel gauge by the input voltage of the fuel level sender of the sender unit and operating a warning lamp(22) when the input voltage reaches below a constant value. Therefore, a fuel-warning sensor, and components and processes to install the fuel-warning sensor are unnecessary and the microcomputer detects and warns abnormal conditions generated in the sender of the fuel gauge or connected conditions.
