Abstract

PURPOSE: A marine shaft alignment method using a Total Station is provided to reduce time for aligning work and to improve accuracy by performing centering work with using Total Station. CONSTITUTION: Centering jigs(2) are installed at the ends of a stern boss block(1). A Total Station(10) is positioned at the position for installing the engine of a ship. The centering position of the centering jig is measured with using the Total Station. The centering position is measured until that the center of Total station and centering jig is on the same line is decided. The centerline of a power shaft is controlled with not naked eye but the Total Station and therefore, the time for aligning work is reduced and accuracy is improved. A piano wire(20), passed through the boss center(35) of a rudder horn(30) of the stern boss block, is used for measuring the center of the centering jig.
