Abstract

PURPOSE: An aluminum cylinder block having strength reinforcing structure is provided which is light and has high strength. CONSTITUTION: In a cylinder made of an aluminum, a frame(2), formed with a cast iron or steel which has higher strength than the aluminum, is inserted in the part the thermal stress and force is concentrated at molding. The frame is composed of an upper frame(2a) for reinforcing a crank case and a lower frame(2b) for reinforcing a bed plate. The crank case is coupled to the bed plate with bolts. A crank shaft is inserted in a shaft hole formed between the crank case and the bed plate.
