종래에는 건물의 지하에 해수조를 구비하고 물고기를 넣어 양식하면서 낚시를 하게 되는 실내낚시터 또는 횟집에서 해수조에 물고기를 넣어 보관하는 축양 또는 해수조에 물고기를 양식하는 양식장에는 물고기의 배설물과 먹이(사료)로 인하여 수질이 산성화 또는 알칼리화로 급속히 변화되어 암모니아와 질소가 급생성되면서 아질산이 생성되어 물고기가 폐사되므로 이를 해소하기 위하여 모래(규사), 화학솜, 여과제, 활성탄등을 복층으로 포개어진 여과탱크를 구성하여 해수조의 물을 순환시키고 기포발생기를 이용 해수에 공기를 발생시켜 수질의 변화를 억제하고 있으나 동여과 기능은 입자가 큰 배설물과 먹이를 단순히 걸러주는 기능은 있으나 미립자로 분해된 배설물과 잔존먹이는 해수에 용해된 상태에서 순환되고 해수의 농도(PH)를 유지하여주는 기능이 없어 대체적으로 1주일을 사용하게 되면 해수조의 암모니아와 질소의 생성으로 해수가 오염되어 양식환경이 유지되지 못하여 해수를 교환하게 되며 동해수는 생활하수와 함께 버려지게 되므로 수질오염의 주요인이 되고 있는 실정이다.Conventionally, a fish tank is installed in an indoor fishing sitter or a sashimi house where fish are stored while putting fish in the basement of a building and fish farming.
