Description

Anterior Cervical Plate with the Peg and Screw Fixation System}Anterior Cervical Plate with the Peg and Screw Fixation System

The present invention relates to cervical disc disease in the areas of orthopedics and neurosurgery; Cervical vertebrae used for the treatment and correction of cervical hernial discs, cervial spondylosis myelopathy, cervical fractures and dislocations, tumors and kyphotic deformity It relates to a plate and a screw to which a peg is attached as an anterior insert.

Among the conventional cervical spine inserts that are used in the past, the plate and the screw are not attached to the pegs, so it requires a lot of assistants and equipment to fix the plate to the cervical spine with only screws and surgical aids. The bleeding is excessive and there is a high chance of infection. In addition, the plate obliquely fixed to the cervical spine frequently occurs, causing nerve damage or biomechanics instability after anterior cervical spine surgery.

First, the surgical procedure using a plate and a screw in the anterior fixing device of the cervical spine to which the present invention belongs can be briefly described as follows. First, the surgical site is incision to reveal the cervical vertebral body, the damaged disc is removed, and a bone graft is inserted in place. The screw is then passed through the plate and fixed to the cervical spine. However, in order to insert the screw in the process of fixing the plate to the cervical vertebrae, it is often difficult to hold the plate in the correct position, and the plate is often fixed obliquely after the fixation.

According to the present invention, when the cervical vertebral disc and the disc are clearly distinguished after the incision, the place where the peg enters is drilled in the spinal vertebra. When the plate is fixed to the cervical vertebrae, the plate is inserted into a hole previously drilled using a peg attached to the plate, and then fixed using a screw. As such, the present invention allows the plate to be easily and accurately fixed to the procedure position and direction with fewer surgical instruments and personnel when the plate is fixed to the cervical spine by mounting the peg on the plate.
