Abstract

PURPOSE: A resonator for turbo charger is provided to reduce noise caused by the sucked air flowing toward the compressor of the turbo charger. CONSTITUTION: A resonator(30) comprises a pipe(42) having a porous area(40) and which is connected to a hose(38) connecting a compressor wheel(34) of a turbo charger(32) and an air cleaner(36); and a housing(46) accommodating the porous area of the pipe and which is installed at the inner periphery of the resonator so as to form a chamber(44). The air passed through the air cleaner by the asymmetric compressor wheel rotating by the driving force of the turbo charger, generates a pulsating pressure and flows into the resonator. Subsequently, the air is escaped to the chamber via the porous area, reducing the noise caused by the high air rate during air suction.
