한편, 전술한 바와 같은 각 과정에서 발생되는 유출수는 각 과정에 배관된 집수관(60)을 통해 집수되어 미생물접촉조와 탈색흡착조롤 거쳐 정화된다. 이때 바람직하게는 집수된 유출수를 미생물접촉조(50)에서 처리하기 전에 먼저 원심분리기(40)에서 처리하여 유출수에 포함되어 있을 수 있는 고형분을 먼저 제거한 다음, 산화폭기조(42)와 침전조(44), 저장조(46) 등의 일련의 전처리조에서 전처리하고 미생물접촉조(50)로 유입시킨다. 이 미생물접촉조(50)에서는 미생물에 의해 유출수 중의 유기물이 분해되는데, 미생물접촉조(50)에는 미생물담체로 목재칩이 저장되어 미생물의 성장과 활동을 촉진시킨다. 이 목재칩은 내부에 무수히 많은 공극이 존재하여 넓은 표면적을 가지기 때문에 미생물이 부착하여 서식할 수 있는 넓은 서식처를 제공하며, 이와 같이 미생물이 목재칩에 부착되어 서식함으로써 미생물과 유출수의 접촉면적이 넓어져서 미생물에 의한 유기물의 분해가 활발해진다. 바람직하게는 목재칩으로는 완전 탈수된 직경 4~20㎜ 정도의 삼나무 또는 참나무칩을 사용하는데, 이와 같은 목재칩을 미생물접촉조(50) 부피의 80~100%만큼 충진한다. 이와 같이 미생물담체로 목재칩이 충진된 미생물접촉조(50)에는 미생물에 의해 유출수 중의 유기물이 완전 생분해된다. 이때 미생물접촉조(50)를 다단으로 여러개 병렬설치할 수도 있는데, 이와 같이 하면 유출수가 다단으로 여러번 반복 처리되므로 유출수의 유기물 분해율이 상승된다. 이와 같이 미생물접촉조(50)에서 유기물이 분해된 유출수는 흡착제로 활성탄이 내장된 탈색흡착조(60)를 통과하게 되는데, 이 탈색흡착조(60)를 통과하면서 유출수에 잔류하는 유기 및 무기성분이 흡착되어 처리수의 악취나 색깔 등이 완전히 제거된다. 이와 같이 미생물접촉조(50)와 탈색흡착조(60)를 거쳐 완전히 정화된 유출수는 변기세정수나 세차용수, 정원용수 등과 같은 생활용수로 재활용한다.On the other hand, the outflow water generated in each process as described above is collected through the collecting pipe 60 piped in each process is purified through the microbial contact tank and the decolorization adsorption tank roll.
