종래의 지상파 TV 수신시에는 지향성 안테나를 고정된 상태로 여러 채널 중 하나의 방향에 맞추거나, 무 지향성 안테나를 사용하여 여러 방향을 모두 수신토록 하였다. 그러나 이들의 경우 고정된 상태에서는 지향성 안테나로는 여러 채널을 맞출 수가 없어 문제이며, 무 지향성을 채택하게 되면 안테나의 이득이 매우 적고 디지털 TV(DTV)와 같은 경우 다중경로에 매우 취약하여 문제를 일으킨다.In the conventional terrestrial TV reception, the directional antenna is fixed to one of several channels, or the omnidirectional antenna is used to receive all directions.
