Abstract

PURPOSE: A digital satellite receiver having a recording reservation function which selects a recording reservation on a program guide screen to record a selected program by controlling a VCR by means of a receiver itself and a recording reservation method thereof are provided. CONSTITUTION: In a digital satellite receiver, a tuner(310) selectively receives and frequency -downs a high frequency band of a transponder including data of a channel selected by a user. A QPSK demodulator(320) QPSK-modulates and digital-converts an output of the tuner(310) and outputs a transponder stream. An MPEG2 demultiplexor(330) demultiplexes the transponder stream from QPSK demodulator(320) and selectively outputs an event information table data including a data service stream, a subscriber selection channel data, or a program guide information. An MPEG2 decoder(340) decodes an audio/video data of a selected channel and the event information table data from MPEG2 demultiplexor(330). An audio digital analog converter(350) converts the audio data from MPEG2 decoder(340) into an analog signal. A video encoder(360) converts the video data from MPEG2 decoder(340) into analog data. A VCR remote controller(380) generates a signal identical with a recording command signal of a VCR. A controller(370) converts a channel data of a reserved program into a video/audio signal.
