More particularly, the present invention relates to a stretchable polyimide substrate comprising high rigidity polyimide and porous polyimide, and a method for manufacturing the same.
The development of highly elastic materials is creating a variety of applications such as artificial skin and actuators. Accordingly, research and development to improve the stretch limit of a commercially available material compatible with an existing process or device is being actively conducted. Since the stretch characteristics of a material are intrinsic properties of the material, studies are being conducted to improve the stretch limit by changing the material structure or to improve the stretch limit through a post-processing process.
As one of the methods of changing the material structure, there is a method of transforming the shape of the material into a periodic wave shape like an accordion. When an inorganic thin film such as silicon or a semiconductor compound is bonded to a silicon-based elastomer substrate that has been pre-tensioned, and the elastomer substrate is returned to its original state, the inorganic thin film is compressed to form a periodic wave pattern. Through this method, the stretch limit of the inorganic thin film can be improved up to about 100%, but in the end, since it is a heterojunction structure with an elastic substrate, the material may be destroyed in a larger deformation, and it is different from the existing two-dimensional planar device. There is a problem that there is no structural compatibility.
In addition, there is a method using PDMS having excellent elasticity. However, thermal stability and chemical stability are poor, and there is no structural compatibility with a two-dimensional planar device, so it is difficult to apply it to an actual three-dimensional display.
Therefore, there is a need to provide a stretchable substrate having two-dimensional structural stability, high temperature heat resistance, and stretchability.

In addition, the relationship between the Young's modulus (E), the yield stress (σ y ), and the yield strain (ε y ) may be expressed by Equation 2 below.
The Young's modulus (E p ) of the material having a pore structure may be expressed by Equation 3 below.
As described above, the Young's modulus (E p ) of a material having a pore structure may be expressed as a Young's modulus (E 0 ) and a volume ratio (P) of pores of the same material without pores.
According to the above formula, when the volume ratio (P) of pores is 0.5, the Young's modulus (E p ) of the material having a pore structure may be 27.5% of the Young's modulus (E 0 ) of the same material without pores. In addition, when the volume ratio (P) of pores is 0.7, the Young's modulus (E p ) of the material having a pore structure may be 11.1% of the Young's modulus (E 0 ) of the same material having no pores. In this way, the Young's modulus (E p ) of the material having the pore structure may be smaller than the Young's modulus (E 0 ) of the same material having no pores according to the value of the volume ratio (P) of the pores. Accordingly, it is possible to implement a highly stretchable material.
The rigidity (R, Rigidity) of the material can be expressed by Equation 4 as follows.
As described above, the stiffness (R) of the material may be expressed by Young's modulus (E), the thickness (t) of the material, and Poisson's ratio (v, Poisson's ratio).

Referring to FIG. 1C , each
The Young's modulus (E) of a typical polyimide may have a value of 1 to 5.5 GPa depending on the structure. A general polyimide having such a Young's modulus (E) may be difficult to use as a stretchable substrate. Accordingly, in the present invention, the Young's modulus (E) of the stretchable polyimide substrate may be lowered by using the
In order for the
The
When stress is applied to the stretchable polyimide substrate, the stress may be concentrated in the
Polyamic acid, which is a precursor of polyimide, may be used to manufacture the
The polyamic acid particles including the air bubbles may be formed by densely dispersing the bubbles inside the polyamic acid particles. The following three methods may be used as a method of dispersing air bubbles in the polyamic acid particles.
