Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention [0002] The present invention relates to a re-transfer printing system, and more particularly, to a re-transfer printing system having improved print quality and improved driving stability and productivity.
Generally, the dye-sublimation type photographic printing method is mainly used with the direct transfer method and the re-transfer method, and various kinds of plastic cards such as a print, a credit card, a cash card, a transportation card, a membership card, The driver's license, and so on.
In this printing method, a print ribbon is brought into contact with the surface of a print, a plastic card, or an identification card to print an image, a pattern, or a character by a thermal transfer method. The print ribbon is directly adhered to the surface of a print, a plastic card, In the direct printing method of printing, there is a limit in that it is impossible to print the edge of the plastic card (edge to edge printing).
In addition, the printing ribbon may be cut off due to chip grooves or the like on the surface of the card when the IC card is printed, and when the RF card is printed, irregularities may occur on the card surface due to RF chip or antenna inside the card, Results.
In addition, in the case of a PVC card, generally, a large amount of dye can not be printed, so that the print sensitivity is generally low, resulting in poor print quality.
On the other hand, in order to overcome these limitations, there is a re-transfer printer which prints using an intermediate transfer web or intermediate transfer film in addition to a print ribbon.
For example, the re-transfer printer does not print a print ribbon directly on a print, a plastic card, or an identification card, but rather prints the intermediate transfer film first using a print ribbon as shown in FIG. 1 below, And transferring the printed image on the intermediate transfer film through a step (re-transfer) to a print, a plastic card, an identification card or the like.
FIG. 1 shows the structure and operating state of a conventional printing system having a re-transfer function. The conventional re-transfer printer is a printer for printing various ID cards or plastics including a license, an identification card, a membership card, a driver's license, A
In the re-transfer operation by the re-transfer printer having such a configuration, the print ribbon Q is pressed by the
However, in the case of such a conventional re-transfer printer, the re-transfer operation is interrupted during the thermal transfer to the re-transferred film, and the thermal transfer operation is interrupted during the re-transfer to the adherend, so that a continuous operation of thermal transfer and re- The productivity is low.
In addition, since the conventional re-transfer printing system generally rolls the rolls on both sides to position the re-transferred film, the PET film may stretch or deform, and when the re-transferred film is thermally transferred, The film may stretch due to the heat transferred. Therefore, a mis-registration phenomenon is liable to occur when actually re-transferring a plastic card or a passport. In addition, the conventional re-transfer printing system has a problem in that when the print is used for a long period of time, it is difficult to precisely adjust the position due to wear of some parts such as a roll.
In addition, in general, re-transfer adherends (such as cards and re-transfer films) should exhibit high print sensitivity due to the printing of large amounts of dyes, but this requires high adherence of the adherend to maintain high heat between the printhead and adherend It has to be provided that PET, which is a re-transfer film, has a high thermal conductivity and can not keep the temperature of the print head between the print head and the adherend, so that it is difficult to achieve high print sensitivity.
The re-transfer printer system of the present invention has the following advantages.
First, unlike conventional re-transfer printers, it is possible to print on image carriers even during re-transfer, resulting in more than twice the productivity.
Secondly, as an image transferring means for an adherend, for example, an image carrier such as a photo paper is used, and the image layer provided in such an image carrier has a much higher printing quality than a conventional redransfer film, The same quality as a photo paper can be realized.
Third, mis-registration phenomenon does not occur because the image carrier (paper or photo paper) is transferred to the plastic card immediately after it is transferred to the image carrier.
