Description
The present invention relates to a coupling for connecting two pipes together, and more particularly to a coupling for visually confirming the reliability of connection of two pipes.
Coupling refers to a device that fixes the ends of two pipes by connecting them together. The coupling includes a plurality of segments for connecting the ends of the pipes and the segments join coaxially aligned pipes around the circumference with circumferential grooves disposed adjacent the end of each pipe.
Prior to the description of the conventional coupling, a pipe connected by a coupling will be described.
A pipe is a circular section generally having a space in which a fluid can flow and has a certain length. In the present specification, however, the term "pipe" refers not only to a straight pipe but also to other types of fittings such as an elbow, a tee, and the like. Coupling is also used to connect pipes to fluid control components such as valves, reducers, strainer, restrictors, pressure regulators, as well as the connection of two pipes.
On the other hand, the types of pipes are divided into metal pipes and nonmetallic pipes depending on the material, and the metal pipes are steel pipes, copper pipes, stainless pipes and the like. Nonmetallic pipes include PVC pipes, PB pipes and meta-pipes.
More specifically, the steel pipe is divided into a white pipe and a black pipe, and it is most widely used in water pipes, digestive pipes, gas pipes, heating pipes, and the like because it is easy to construct on site and has good durability. On the other hand, copper pipes are classified into K.L.M.N. It has good thermal conductivity and is widely used in heat exchangers and heating coils. And the stainless steel pipe is made of iron and tin alloy, so it has high rigidity and is strong against impact.
On the other hand, in order to couple the two pipes by the coupling, grooves should be provided around the pipe at the adjacent positions at the end of the pipe. The grooves of the pipe are typically made by cold forging. Cold forging refers to a forging method that is carried out at room temperature without heating the material. Cold forging to make a groove in a pipe compresses the pipe between the roller pressing the outer surface of the pipe toward the center of the pipe and the backup roller pressing the inner surface of the pipe opposite the roller.
The shape of the groove of the pipe uses a roller having a shape desired by the user, and the backup roller helps to accurately form the groove of the pipe when the pipe is pressed by the roller. In the case of the steel pipe or copper pipe, the groove shape desired by the user can be formed according to the shape of the roller. Normally, when a cylindrical roller is used, the side surface of the groove is formed perpendicular to the central axis of the pipe. However, since the stainless steel pipe has higher rigidity than other pipes, it is difficult to form a desired groove shape by the user, and the boundary between the side surface and the bottom surface of the groove is unclear. This means that the side surface of the groove is formed obliquely, and the length of the bottom surface of the groove becomes narrower toward the center of the pipe. Therefore, in the case of a stainless steel pipe, a problem may arise in coupling the coupling due to the above reasons, which will be described later.
1 is a perspective view of a conventional coupling;
Referring to FIG. 1, with reference to the
The key is fitted in the groove to fix the pipe against internal pressure and external force applied to the pipe. External forces can also be due to thermal expansion and compression of the pipe due to temperature changes, the weight of large diameter pipes and valves, wind and seismic loads. In other words, it is desirable that the coupling resist the rotation of the pipe, resist axial movement of the pipe due to internal pressure, and resist the angular deflection of the pipe.
When the two pipe ends fixed by the coupling are disposed properly spaced from each other, the pressure of the fluid increases the sealability of the coupling. Thus, the operator tightens the bolts or nuts of the coupling with a predetermined torque so as to have an appropriately spaced distance, thereby pushing the pipe axially so that the key can be engaged with the appropriate part of the groove. Such a coupling coupling method is effective when the shape of the groove has a side perpendicular to the central axis of the pipe.
However, when the shape of the groove has an oblique side, the key is seated on the oblique side of the groove and the adhesion force is reduced. As a result, the leakage of the fluid and the pressure drop may occur. A problem of deviating occurs. This is especially true in the case of a stainless steel pipe having an oblique side surface.
In addition, since it is impossible to visually confirm whether or not the key is properly installed in the groove, coupling coupling failure occurs depending on the skill of the operator and the working environment. To prevent this, the bolt and nut are forcibly tightened to damage the concentricity of the pipe There is also a problem.
The present invention relates to a coupling for solving the above-mentioned problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a coupling that can visually confirm that a key of a coupling is seated in a groove of a pipe.
It is also an object of the present invention to provide a coupling that provides reliability in coupling coupling irrespective of various work environments or skill of a worker.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a coupling that prevents leakage of pipes and pressure drop by increasing the adhesion between pipes, and prevents the pipes from being separated by fixing the pipes.
According to an aspect of the present invention there is provided a coupling for connecting ends of two pipes having a circumferential groove at a location spaced from an end of the pipe, the coupling comprising a plurality of segments wrapping around the perimeter of the two pipes Wherein each segment has a pair of keys protruding radially inwardly to engage the circumferential groove of the pipe, the pair of keys being spaced apart from each other to form a space, Further comprising a window having an outer surface and an inner surface facing each other and an intermediate surface located between the outer surface and the inner surface and being recessed from the outer surface toward the inner surface, And the length is shorter than the length of the intermediate surface outside the window.
In other words, the coupling may be provided wherein the length of the intermediate surface of the window is shorter than the length of the intermediate surface without the window.
The maximum height of the window is longer than the depth of the circumferential groove of the pipe.
And the window is provided on the outer surface of each of the pair of keys of the segment.
Further, the window is characterized in that one or a plurality of windows are formed on the outer surface of each of the pair of keys of the segment.
One end of the segment has a convex portion and the other of the segments has a concave portion.
In addition, the present invention is characterized in that at the end of the segment, a fixing part formed to extend in a direction opposite to the center of the pipe, and a fastening frame formed in the fixing part and through which a bolt for coupling with another segment passes.
The segment may be formed of a stainless steel casting.
According to another aspect of the present invention there is provided a coupling for coupling two pipes having a circumferential groove at a location spaced from an end of the pipe, the coupling comprising a plurality of segments covering the circumference of the pipe, Each segment including a predetermined space between a pair of keys protruding in the direction of the center of the pipe and the pair of keys, the key comprising an intermediate surface in contact with a bottom surface of the groove of the pipe, An outer surface connected to one end and connected to an outer portion of the segment and an inner surface connected to the other end of the intermediate surface and connected to an inner portion of the segment, Wherein the window is provided with a wall surface parallel to the outer surface thereof, Characterized in that the length from the wall surface to the inner surface is shorter than the length from the outer surface to the inner surface and wherein the window has one or more on each outer surface of the pair of keys of the segment Coupling may be provided.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to visually confirm that the key of the coupling is seated in the groove of the pipe to confirm whether the key is properly seated in the groove.
In addition, regardless of various work environments or the skill of the operator, the coupling is provided with reliability, and the key is properly seated in the groove.
In addition, the present invention provides a coupling that prevents leakage and pressure drop of the pipe by increasing the adhesion force between the pipes, and prevents the pipe from coming off by fixing the pipe.
