Abstract

The present invention relates to a refrigerator, and more particularly, to a refrigerator having a folding shelf that rotates to place items such as food or containers.
In general, a refrigerator has a refrigerating compartment for refrigerating various foods and beverages, a freezing compartment for freezing and storing frozen foods such as meat, fish and ice cream, and a cold air generator for supplying cold air to the refrigerating compartment and the freezing compartment. The cold air generator includes an evaporator for cooling the ambient air and a blower forcibly blowing the cooled air.
In the refrigerator compartment and the freezer compartment, shelves for placing various items are installed, and inside the refrigerating compartment door and the freezer compartment door, a door basket for storing a container having a small size such as a bottle or a can is installed.
Refrigerators used for home use may be classified into general type, double door type, mixed type, etc. according to the arrangement of the refrigerating compartment and the freezing compartment and the installation structure of the door. In the most common type of refrigerator, the freezer compartment is located at the top, the refrigerator compartment is located at the bottom of the freezer compartment, and the freezer compartment door and the refrigerator compartment door are arranged vertically.
In the double door type refrigerator, the freezer compartment and the refrigerating compartment are located on the left and right sides, and the freezing compartment door and the refrigerating compartment door are disposed on the left and right sides. The double door refrigerator is suitable for a large capacity of a freezer compartment and a refrigerating compartment, and an ice maker is provided in the freezer compartment and a dispenser for discharging ice made in the ice maker may be provided in the freezer compartment door.
In the mixed refrigerator, a freezer compartment is located at the bottom of the freezer compartment, and the freezer compartment is opened and closed by a drawer-type freezer compartment door, and the freezer compartment is opened and closed by a pair of refrigerator compartment doors arranged left and right. In the mixed type refrigerator, since the ice maker is installed in the refrigerating compartment and the dispenser is installed in the refrigerator compartment door, water supplied to the ice maker is not frozen as compared with a double door type in which the ice maker is installed in the freezing compartment.
An example of such a hybrid refrigerator is disclosed in Korean Patent Publication No. 2005-117536. The mixed refrigerator disclosed in the above publication includes a refrigerator compartment provided in the upper portion of the refrigerator body, a freezer compartment provided in the lower portion of the refrigerator compartment, an ice making compartment partitioned by an adiabatic partition wall inside the refrigerator compartment, and a refrigerator compartment and a freezer compartment. The refrigerator includes a pair of heat exchangers, and a plurality of shelves are installed in the refrigerating chamber to store food.
However, in the conventional refrigerator, since the ice maker occupies a part of the refrigerating compartment, arrangement of shelves for efficiently using the refrigerating compartment space is not easy. That is, when the shelf is installed on the side of the ice maker, it is difficult to store large items in the refrigerating chamber because of the shelf, and when the shelf is not installed on the side of the ice maker, the space next to the ice maker is not used properly, resulting in a decrease in the utilization of the refrigerator compartment space. .
An object of the present invention is to provide a refrigerator having a folding shelf that can be folded and unfolded in a vertical direction to a horizontal direction so as to efficiently utilize a storage space, in particular, a side space of an ice maker.
