본 발명은 동의보감의 22권 각론 중 실제로 사람의 병을 치료하는 약제인 탕액을 기록한 3권의 탕액편을 재정리하되, 탕액편에 수록된 각 부문별 약재들을 누구나 쉽게 찾아 약재의 성질이나 효능을 확인하고 활용할 수 있도록 할 뿐 아니라, 차후 DB화하여 전산검색시에 유용하게 적용될 수 있게 한 것이다.

권 3 역시 총 5개부문으로 분류되며, 약으로 쓰이는 풀을 의미하는 초부문, 하(草部問, 下)에 속하는 약재 188종류와, 초부문 하의 약재가 기재된 곳을 p425가 표기되어 있고(본 발명에서는 검색시 초부 상, 하,는 별도로 구분하지 않고 연결하여 일련번호를 기재하였기 때문에 초부문 하에서는 80부터 267로 구분하였다), 약으로 쓰이는 나무를 의미하는 목부문(木部門)에 속하는 약재 158종류와 목부문의 약재가 기재된 곳을 p501이 표기되어 있고(원본 동의보감에서는 156종류가 수록되어 있다고 하나, 본 발명자가 정리하는 과정에서 실제로 158종류이기 때문에 원본을 오해시키지 않기 위하여 156+2로 표기한다), 약으로 쓰이는 구슬을 의미하는 옥부문(玉部門)에 속하는 약재 4종류와, 옥부문의 약재가 기재된 곳을 p561로 표기되어 있고, 약으로 쓰이는 돌을 의미하는 석부문(石部門)에 속하는 약재 55종류와 석부문의 약재가 기재된 곳을 p563으로 표기되어 있으며, 약으로 쓰이는 쇠를 의미하는 금부문(발명에서는 새를 의미하는 금부문과 한자음이 같기 때문에 쇠부문으로 하여 이를 구분한다)에 속하는 약재 33종류와, 금부문의 약재가 기재된 곳을 p587이 표기, 수록되어 있다.Volume 3 is also divided into 5 categories, and 1425 kinds of medicinal herbs belonging to the vinegar section, lower section, which means grass used as medicine, and p425 are marked where medicinal herbs are listed under the section section.
