본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 단전 방법은, 외부의 전력 회사로부터 전력량계가 전류 단전에 대한 부가 신호를 수신하는 신호 수신 단계, 전력량계에서 수신된 부가 신호를 분석하여 전류의 단전에 대한 명령을 생성하는 명령 생성 단계, 전 력량계에서 상기 전류의 단전에 대한 명령을 단전 장치로 전송하는 명령 전송 단계 및 단전 장치에서 상기 명령에 따라 스위치를 on 또는 off하여 전류의 흐름을 제어하는 제어 단계를 포함한다. 상기 전력량계가 외부의 전력회사의 서버로부터 수신하는 전류 단전에 대한 부가 신호는 단전 신호, 복전 신호 및 전류 제한 신호를 포함한다. 상기 전력량계는 상기 수신된 부가 신호를 분석하여 각각의 신호에 대응하여 단전 명령, 복전 명령 및 전류 제한 명령을 생성하여 단전 장치로 전송한다. 상기 단전 장치는 상기 전력량계로부터 전류의 단전에 대한 명령을 수신하여 스위치를 on 또는 off 시킴으로써 전류의 흐름을 제어한다.
