그러나 상기 종래의 가로등, 보안등을 이용한 에너지 절감장치는 가로등, 보안등을 이루는 긴 지지봉의 측단에 별도의 설치판을 크게 돌출시킨 다음 그 설치판에 집광용 태양전지패널(태양전지)을 설치하는 구조로 되어 있음에 따라, 가로등, 보안등이 갖는 기본적인 골격구조와 대비할 때 체적이 더 커지는 문제점과 함께 별도 설치판의 추가 설치에 따른 비용적 앙등요소를 갖는 등 이에 대한 개선요구가 지적되고 있다.
즉, 종래와 같이 가로등, 보안등을 이루는 긴 지지봉에 측방으로 크게 돌출되는 별도의 설치판을 설치할 경우 설치에 따른 비용 상승문제는 차치하더라도 그 돌출 크기 이상의 공간이 필수적이나 그 장소에 가로수, 전봇대, 신호등, 교통 표지판 등이 존재할 경우 그 설치가 불가능할 수 있고,
특히, 그 설치판에 부착된 태양전지모듈로 향하는 태양빛의 방해요소(가로수, 전봇대, 신호등, 교통 표지판 등)는 모두 근절되어야하기 때문에 결과적으로 가로등, 보안등의 설치 및 유지관리시 더욱 큰 공간이 확보되어야 하는 문제점이 있다.

그리고 상기 자체 점소등 전기에너지 또는 다른 용도의 동력원으로의 활용을 위한 필요 요소인 전력 조정기(power controller), 직·교류 변환장치(inverter), 축전지(storage battery) 등은 가로등, 보안의 하단부의 내부에 내장시킨 후 상단의 태양전지패널(500)과 고휘도 발광소자 LED(550) 발광소자에 선 연결하여 구성함이 바람직하다.
