Abstract

A system for servicing traffic light information using telematics is provided to enhance driver convenience by informing the position of a traffic light to a driver using the network of telematics. A system for servicing traffic light information using telematics includes a traffic light controller, a repeater and a telematics terminal(C). The traffic light controller transmits changed information such as the position of a traffic light and signal intervals. The repeater repeats the output of the traffic light controller to the telematics terminal. The telematics terminal includes a GPS(Global Positioning System) unit(11) for identifying the position, a CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) modem unit(12) for communication, a central process unit(13) for processing data, and a speaker(14) for guiding audio.

본 발명은 텔레매틱스의 통신망을 통하여 신호등의 정보를 알려주도록 한 시스템에 관한 것으로, 특히 텔레매틱스의 통신망을 이용하여 신호등의 위치와 신호 변경 상황 등을 운전자가 미리 파악할 수 있기 때문에, 운전자가 도로 상황에 적절하게 대응하여 안전 운행을 도모할 수 있도록 한 것이다. 일반적으로 텔레매틱스(Telematics)는 텔레커뮤니케이션(telecommunication) 과 인포매틱스(informatics)의 합성어로서, 자동차와 무선통신을 결합한 새로운 개념의 차량 무선인터넷 서비스이다. 자동차 안이나 기타 장소에서 이메일을 주고받고, 인터넷을 통해 각종 정보도 검색할 수 있는 오토(auto) PC를 이용한다는 점에서 '오토모티브 텔레매틱스'라고도 부른다. 이러한 텔레매틱스 서비스를 통하여 운전자가 무선 네트워크를 통해 차량을 원격 진단하고, 무선모뎀을 장착한 오토 PC로 교통 및 생활 정보, 긴급구난 등 각종 정보를 이용할 수 있으며, 사무실과 친구들에게 전화 메시지를 전할 수 있음은 물론이고, 음성 이메일을 주고받을 수도 있고, 오디오북을 다운받을 수도 있다. 상기한 텔레매틱스 서비스는 자동차 메이커와 이동통신업체 간의 합작 형태로 이루어지는 것이 일반적이다. 서비스 형태에 따라 뉴스수신, 주식투자, 전자상거래, 금융거래, 호텔예약, 팩시밀리 송수신, 게임, 차량 사고 및 도난 등 다양한 서비스가 가능하며, 특히 교통사고가 났을 경우 GPS위성을 이용해 자동적으로 사고차량의 위치를 추적, 가장 근접한 119구조대에 전달해 줌으로써 구난 활동에 용이하다는 장점이 있다.In general, telematics is a compound word of telecommunication and informatics, and is a new concept of vehicle wireless Internet service combining automobile and wireless communication.
