A system and a method for improving a security function through a door lock are provided to improve reliability of security by doubly monitoring and determining an abnormal state at a management server. A system for improving a security function through a door lock includes a door lock(11), a sensor(13), a home controller(14), an external management server(16) and a home gateway(15). The sensor(13) detects opening of the door lock(11). The home controller(14) communicates with the sensor(13) through a power line.
