본 발명의 상세한 설명에 기술된 디바이스가 유사한 기능의 다른 전자 디바이스들과 관련될 수 있다는 것이 이해되어야 한다. 예컨대, 음성, 비디오 또는 데이터 통신을 제공하는 디바이스는 전화, 코드레스 전화, 이동전화, 셀룰라 전화, 개인휴대단말(PDA), 또는 다른 컴퓨터 기반 통신 디바이스들로서 구현될 수 있다. 다른 예로서, 셋톱박스 기능은 컴퓨터 및/또는 서버에 의하여 구현될 수 있다.

본 발명은 텔레비전 콘텐츠를 제공하는 기능이외에 기능이 확장된 셋톱박스 를 사용하는 개선된 시스템 및 방법을 제공할 수 있는 효과를 가진다.

Claims (21)

  1. 셋톱박스로부터 사진들을 이메일링하는 방법에 있어서,
    상기 셋톱박스에 접속된 텔레비전에서 사진들의 메뉴를 제시하는(presenting) 단계로서, 상기 메뉴 내의 상기 사진들은 원격 제어 디바이스를 사용하여 강조될 수 있는, 상기 제시 단계;
    상기 텔레비전에서 이메일 사진 소프트 버튼을 제시하는 단계;
    적어도 하나의 수신자 이메일 어드레스를 포함하는 어드레스 북(address book)을 제시하는 단계; 및
    상기 적어도 하나의 수신자 이메일 어드레스에 어드레싱된 이메일을 전송하는 단계를 포함하고, 상기 이메일은 상기 이메일에 대한 응답이 상기 셋톱박스 이외의 다른 위치에 전송되도록 하는 리턴 이메일 어드레스(return email address)를 포함하는, 사진 이메일링 방법.
  2. 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 리턴 이메일 어드레스는 고객 계정과 연관된 이메일 어드레스에 대응하는, 사진 이메일링 방법.
  3. 제 2항에 있어서, 상기 고객 계정은 상기 셋톱박스의 사용자와 연관되는, 사진 이메일링 방법.
  4. 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 텔레비전에서 전송 버튼을 제시하는 단계 및 상기 전송 버튼이 선택될 때 상기 이메일을 전송하는 단계를 더 포함하는, 사진 이메일링 방법.
  5. 제 1항에 있어서, 어드레스 북 셋업 스크린을 제시하는 단계를 더 포함하는, 사진 이메일링 방법.
  6. 제 5항에 있어서, 상기 어드레스 북에 어드레스 리스트를 가져오는(importing) 단계를 더 포함하는, 사진 이메일링 방법.
  7. 제 5항에 있어서, 이메일 어드레스를 수신하는 단계; 및
    상기 어드레스 북에 상기 이메일 어드레스를 추가하는 단계를 더 포함하는, 사진 이메일링 방법.
  8. 제 7항에 있어서, 상기 이메일 어드레스에 대한 닉네임을 수신하는 단계; 및
    상기 닉네임을 상기 어드레스 북에 추가하는 단계를 더 포함하는, 사진 이메일링 방법.
  9. 셋톱박스에 있어서,
    프로세서;
    상기 프로세서에 액세스가능한 컴퓨터 판독가능 매체; 및
    상기 컴퓨터 판독가능 매체내에 저장된 컴퓨터 프로그램을 포함하며, 상기 컴퓨터 프로그램은,
    텔레비전에서 사진들의 메뉴를 제시하기 위한 명령들;
    상기 텔레비전에서 이메일 사진 소프트 버튼을 제시하기 위한 명령들;
    상기 선택된 이메일 사진 소프트 버튼에 응답하여, 하나 이상의 수신자들에 대응하는 하나 이상의 이메일 어드레스들을 포함하는 어드레스 북을 제시하기 위한 명령들; 및
    이메일을 생성하기 위한 명령들로서, 상기 이메일은 적어도 하나의 수신자 어드레스에 어드레싱되며, 상기 이메일은 상기 셋톱박스에 링크된 고객 계정과 연관된 고객 이메일 어드레스에 대응하는 리턴 이메일 어드레스를 포함하며, 상기 이메일은 상기 셋톱박스가 아니라 상기 고객 이메일 어드레스로부터 전송되는 것으로 보이는, 셋톱박스.
  10. 제 9항에 있어서, 상기 이메일에 대한 답신은 상기 셋톱박스에 전송되지 않는, 셋톱박스.
  11. 제 10항에 있어서, 상기 이메일에 대한 답신은 고객 이메일 어드레스에 전송되는, 셋톱박스.
  12. 제 9항에 있어서, 상기 컴퓨터 프로그램은,
    상기 텔레비전에서 전송 버튼을 제시하기 위한 명령들; 및
    상기 전송 버튼이 선택될 때 수신자에게 상기 이메일을 전송하기 위한 명령들을 더 포함하는, 셋톱박스.
  13. 제 9항에 있어서, 상기 컴퓨터 프로그램은 상기 수신자 어드레스가 이용가능하지 않을 때 어드레스 북 셋업 스크린을 제시하기 위한 명령들을 더 포함하는, 셋톱박스.
  14. 제 13항에 있어서, 상기 컴퓨터 프로그램은,
    하나 이상의 수신자 이메일 어드레스들을 수신하기 위한 명령들;
    상기 하나 이상의 수신자 이메일 어드레스들의 각각에 대한 닉네임을 수신하기 위한 명령들; 및
    상기 하나 이상의 수신자 이메일 어드레스들 및 상기 대응 닉네임들을 상기 어드레스 북에 추가하도록 하는 명령들을 더 포함하는, 셋톱박스.
  15. 셋톱박스에 접속된 디스플레이에 대한 그래픽 사용자 인터페이스에 있어서,
    사진 섬네일들(thumbnail)의 어레이;
    사진 뷰잉 윈도우; 및
    하나 이상의 수신자 이메일 어드레스들을 포함하는 어드레스 북을 포함하며, 수신자 이메일 어드레스가 선택된 후, 이메일이 생성되고, 상기 이메일은 상기 이메일에 대한 답신이 상기 셋톱박스 이외의 다른 위치에 전송되게 할 리턴 이메일 어드레스를 갖는, 그래픽 사용자 인터페이스.

  18. 제 15항에 있어서, 상기 리턴 이메일 어드레스는 고객 계정과 연관된 이메일 어드레스에 대응하는, 그래픽 사용자 인터페이스.
  19. 제 15항에 있어서, 상기 리턴 이메일 어드레스는 상기 이메일에 대한 상기 응답이 상기 셋톱박스에 접속되지 않은 사용자 컴퓨터에 전송되도록 하는, 그래픽 사용자 인터페이스.
  20. 컴퓨터에 있어서,
    프로세서;
    상기 프로세서에 의하여 액세스 가능한 컴퓨터 판독가능 매체; 및
    상기 컴퓨터 판독가능 매체내에 저장된 컴퓨터 프로그램을 포함하며, 상기 컴퓨터 프로그램은,
    셋톱박스로부터 전송되는 이메일을 수신하도록 하는 명령들; 및
    상기 이메일에 대한 답신을 전송하도록 하는 명령들을 포함하며, 상기 답신은 상기 셋톱박스에 전송되지 않는, 컴퓨터.
  21. 제 20항에 있어서, 상기 답신은 상기 셋톱박스에 접속되지 않은 사용자 컴퓨터에 전송되는, 컴퓨터.
