Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a light emitting diode (LED) display device, and more particularly, to an LED display device having improved sharpness and brightness.
In general, a display device for displaying letters, numbers, or figures by using an LED has an opening to be expressed on a printed circuit board (PCB) 10 on which the LED chip 30 is mounted, as shown in FIG. 3. The formed reflector 40 is coupled, and the film 50 in which numbers, letters, etc. are displayed on the reflector 40 is placed again. The display film 50 is a number, letter or figure to be displayed is a transparent portion to spread the light evenly, and the rest is an opaque portion to block the light.
Reflector 40 has a function to reflect the light from the LED chip 30 to the front of the display device (R in FIG. 3) to increase the light efficiency, but the light to the edge portion where the reflective surface and the top surface is connected In this case, scattering is performed (S of FIG. 3), and the edges of numbers, letters, or figures to be displayed are blurred, resulting in poor clarity. Moreover, although the reflector 40 is in contact with the PCB 10, in reality, light leaks out between the bottom surface of the reflector 40 and the PCB 10 because there is a slight gap instead of being completely attached. The display parts of letters, numbers, figures, etc. of adjacent cells are illuminated, so that parts that are not to be displayed are displayed with weak light, and contrast is reduced.
In addition, the conventional reflector 40 is generally made of a milky white plastic material such as Noryl, FR4, ABS, etc., and because the reflectivity of the plastic material is not high, the light emitted from the LED chip 30 cannot be efficiently used. There was a problem.
On the other hand, Figure 4 is a view showing the reflector 40 and the electrode pad 20 according to the prior art from the front of the display device, the light emitted toward the PCB is displayed because the electrode pad is much smaller than the opening of the reflector It was not reflected to the front of the device and was absorbed by the PCB. Therefore, there is a problem in that the light from the LED chip 30 can not be efficiently used.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a light emitting diode display device that solves the above-mentioned problems, and to effectively prevent scattered light generated at the edge of the top surface of the reflector to improve the sharpness and contrast. To provide.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a light emitting diode display device having improved brightness by reflecting a reflective material with a material such as metal or increasing the size of an electrode pad.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a light emitting diode display device having high contrast by preventing light leakage occurring between the bottom surface of the reflector and the printed circuit board.
In order to achieve the above and other objects, the LED display device according to the present invention

First, a light emitting diode display according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. 1. In the LED display device, an electrode pattern 200 is formed on a printed circuit board (PCB) 100, an LED chip 300 is fixed on the electrode pattern 200, and a reflector 400 is disposed on the PCB 100. do.
The reflector 400 is formed to be inclined in a shape surrounding the LED chip 300 and includes a reflective surface 440 that reflects light emitted from the LED chip to the front of the display device. In addition, the reflector 400 includes a top surface 450 and a bottom surface 460 that connect the reflective surface 440 from above and below, respectively.
An upper light absorbing layer 410 for scattering prevention is formed on the upper surface 450 of the reflector 400, and a lower light absorbing layer 420 for preventing light leakage is formed on the lower surface 460. Each light absorption layer is formed by coating a matte black paint to a thickness of approximately 10 μm to 5 mm. The material of the light absorbing layer may be any material having a function of effectively absorbing light as well as matte black paint.
On the other hand, a reflective layer 430 made of a metal material is formed on the reflective surface 440 of the reflective part 400, so that the reflectance at the reflective surface 440 can be increased. The metal material of the reflective layer 430 may be preferably selected from Ag, Al, Pt, silver palladium copper alloy (APC), silver palladium alloy (AP), Ni, Cr.
On the other hand, the polarizing film 600 is disposed on the reflector 400 to remove unnecessary scattered light. In this case, when a display film is required, the display film may be appropriately disposed above or below the polarizing film 600. The display film may be configured to transmit light through the transparent portions of numbers, letters, or figures to be displayed, and the remaining portions are opaque portions, and may be configured to block the light, or vice versa.
In addition, as shown in FIG. 1 or 2, the size of the electrode pad 200 to which the LED chip 300 is fixed is formed to be equal to or larger than the opening area of the reflecting part so that the LED chip 300 is emitted to the rear surface of the LED chip 300. The light efficiency can be improved by reflecting light to the front.
The operating principle of the LED display device according to the embodiment of the present invention is as follows.
LED 칩(300)에서 방출되는 빛 중 반사부(400)의 반사면 쪽으로 향하는 빛은 반사층(430)에서 표시 장치의 전면부로 반사하게 되고(도 1의 R), 뒤쪽으로 향하는 빛도 전극 패드(200)에서 반사되어 표시 장치의 전면부로 향하게 된다(도 1의 R').Among the light emitted from the LED chip 300, the light directed toward the reflective surface of the reflective part 400 is reflected from the reflective layer 430 to the front part of the display device (R of FIG. 1), and the light directed toward the rear side also includes an electrode pad ( The light is reflected by the light source 200 at the front portion of the display device (R ′ of FIG. 1).
Meanwhile, among the light emitted from the LED chip 300, the light directed toward the edge of the upper surface 450 of the reflector 400 is absorbed by the upper light absorbing layer 410 (S ′ in FIG. 1) and thus is not scattered. Letters, numbers, figures, etc. are displayed clearly. In addition, since the upper light absorbing layer 410 is coated over the entire surface of the upper surface 450 of the reflector 400, the upper surface is further darkened to maximize the contrast of the display device.
In addition, among the light emitted from the LED chip 300, the light traveling to the bottom surface 460 of the reflector 400 is also absorbed by the lower light absorbing layer 420 (L 'in FIG. Because it cannot proceed, light leakage is prevented and the contrast is assured.
In addition, light (R, R ') coming to the front of the display unit can remove the small amount of scattered light actually generated through the polarizing film 600 can improve the sharpness and contrast.
The LED display device according to the present invention forms an upper light absorbing layer on the upper surface of the reflector to effectively prevent scattered light generated at the edge of the upper surface of the reflector and to maximize contrast.
In addition, there is an effect of improving the brightness by coating the reflective surface of the reflective portion with a material such as metal and increasing the size of the electrode pad.
Furthermore, the LED display device of the present invention can further improve contrast by forming a lower light absorbing layer on the bottom surface of the reflector to prevent light leakage between the bottom surface and the printed circuit board.
