Abstract

본 발명은 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 TV 화면 표시 시스템에 관한 것으로, 텔레비전 신호를 수신하여 출력하는 TV 튜너와; 컴퓨터의 USB 포트를 통하여 비디오 데이터를 전달받아 비디오 신호로 변환하여 출력하는 USB VGA 카드와; 상기 USB 비디오 카드로부터 출력되는 비디오 신호와 상기 TV 튜너로부터 출력되는 TV 신호를 합성시켜 출력하는 제 1비디오 믹서와; 컴퓨터의 VGA 카드로부터 출력되는 비디오 신호와 상기 TV 튜너로부터 출력되는 TV 신호를 합성시켜 출력하는 제 2비디오 믹서와; 상기 제 1비디오 믹서로부터 입력되는 비디오 신호를 표시해 주는 보조화면과, 상기 제 2비디오 믹서로부터 입력되는 비디오 신호를 표시해 주는 주화면으로 구성되는 모니터와; 상기 제 1 및 제 2비디오 믹서의 동작을 제어하여, 상기 TV 튜너의 TV 신호를 주화면이나 보조화면에 표시할 때에 상기 VGA 카드의 비디오 신호 출력 대신에 TV 튜너의 TV 신호를 선택하거나, 상기 USB VGA 카드의 비디오 신호 출력 대신에 TV 튜너의 TV 신호를 선택하는 모니터 컨트롤러로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 TV 화면 표시 시스템을 제공한다.

Description

주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 ＴＶ 화면 표시 시스템{TV Display System Using Dual Monitor}
본 발명은 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 TV 화면 표시 시스템에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 각각 별도의 내용이 표시되는 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성되는 모니터에 텔레비전 수신 카드를 부가하고, 모니터의 사용권을 제한 할 수 있는 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 TV 화면 표시 시스템에 관한 것이다.
일반적으로, 컴퓨터를 이용하여 텔레비전을 수신하기 위해서는 텔레비전 방송 수신 기능을 갖는 TV 튜너 카드를 컴퓨터에 설치하여 시청해야 한다.
그런데, 기존의 단일 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터에서 TV를 시청하고자 하면 사용자가 사용하는 모니터의 화면 전체를 TV 화면으로 이용하거나 화면 일부를 TV 화면으로 할애하여 시청해야 한다.
따라서, 별도로 다른 작업을 수행하면서 TV를 시청하면 작업 화면이 작아지기 때문에 작업성이 저하되는 문제점이 있었다.
따라서, 본 발명은 이러한 종래 기술의 문제점을 감안하여 안출된 것으로, 그 목적은 컴퓨터를 이용하여 별도의 작업을 하면서 별도의 모니터를 통하여 TV를 시청할 수 있도록 해 주는 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 TV 화면 표시 시스템을 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다.

상기한 목적을 달성하기 위하여, 본 발명은 텔레비전 신호를 수신하여 출력하는 TV 튜너와; 컴퓨터의 USB 포트를 통하여 비디오 데이터를 전달받아 비디오 신호로 변환하여 출력하는 USB VGA 카드와; 상기 USB 비디오 카드로부터 출력되는 비디오 신호와 상기 TV 튜너로부터 출력되는 TV 신호를 합성시켜 출력하는 제 1비디오 믹서와; 컴퓨터의 VGA 카드로부터 출력되는 비디오 신호와 상기 TV 튜너로부터 출력되는 TV 신호를 합성시켜 출력하는 제 2비디오 믹서와; 상기 제 1비디오 믹서로부터 입력되는 비디오 신호를 표시해 주는 보조화면과, 상기 제 2비디오 믹서로부터 입력되는 비디오 신호를 표시해 주는 주화면으로 구성되는 모니터와; 상기 제 1 및 제 2비디오 믹서의 동작을 제어하여, 상기 TV 튜너의 TV 신호를 주화면에 표시할 때에는 상기 VGA 카드의 비디오 신호 출력 대신에 TV 튜너의 TV 신호를 선택하고, 상기 보조화면으로 표시할 때에는 상기 USB VGA 카드의 비디오 신호 출력 대신에 TV 튜너의 TV 신호를 선택하는 모니터 컨트롤러로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 TV 화면 표시 시스템을 제공한다.
또한, 상기 제 1비디오 믹서 또는 제 2비디오 믹서의 비디오 신호 출력을 제한해 주는 프로텍션 신호를 상기 TV 튜너 또는 상기 VGA 카드, USB VGA 카드를 통하여 검출하여 상기 모니터 컨트롤러를 통하여 상기 제 1 및 제 2비디오 믹서의 출력을 제한시켜 주는 모니터 프로텍터를 더 포함한다.
상기 모니터 프로텍터는 USB VGA 카드와 컴퓨터의 VGA 카드가 정상적으로 컴퓨터와 연결되어 신호가 흐르는지를 검사하여 상기 모니터 컨트롤러를 통해 제 1비디오 믹서와 제 2비디오 믹서의 비디오 신호의 출력을 제한한다.
상기 프로텍션 신호는 TV 신호에 부가되어 전송되며, 상기 모니터 프로텍터에 의한 상기 제 1 및 제 2비디오 믹서의 출력 제한 제어는 상기 컴퓨터로부터 출력되어 프로텍션 기능을 해제하는 해제 코드에 의하여 해제되어 출력된다.
상기 컴퓨터를 이용하여 인터넷 사이트에 접속할 때에, 상기 주화면 또는 보조화면을 통하여 표시되는 비디오 신호에 상기 프로텍션 신호를 포함하여 출력하고, 상기 프로텍션 신호를 해제해 주는 해제 코드를 상기 컴퓨터를 이용하여 입력함으로써 주화면 또는 보조화면으로의 표시를 가능하게 해 준다.
상기한 바와 같이 본 발명에서는 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성되어 이중으로 된 모니터를 이용함으로써 컴퓨터 작업을 표시해 주는 화면과 별도로 다른 화면을 통하여 TV 방송을 별도의 화면을 통해 시청하기 때문에 컴퓨터의 작업을 수행하면서 TV 시청을 동시에 불편 없이 가능하게 해 주는 것이다.
또한, 선택적으로 제 1비디오 믹서와 제 2비디오 믹서의 TV신호 합성을 제어하여 주화면과 보조화면으로의 TV화면 출력을 제어할 수 있음을 특징으로 한다.
(실시예)
이하에 상기한 본 발명을 바람직한 실시예가 도시된 첨부 도면을 참고하여 더욱 상세하게 설명한다.
첨부한 도면, 도 1은 본 발명에 따른 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 TV 화면 표시 시스템의 구성을 설명하기 위한 블록도이다.
본 발명에 이용되는 모니터(20)는 상대적으로 큰 표시 영역을 제공하는 주화면(예를 들어 17인치 정도의 화면, 22)과, 상대적으로 작은 표시 영역을 제공하는 보조화면(예를 들어 8인치 정도의 화면, 24)으로 구성된다.그리고, PC(10)는 VGA 카드(16)와 USB 포트(12)를 구비한 일반적인 PC를 이용하고, VGA 카드(16)에 대한 드라이버, USB VGA 카드(14)에 대한 드라이버, 아래에 설명하는 바와 같은 제어 기능을 가지는 모니터 컨트롤러(42)에 대한 드라이버가 설치되어 구동된다.
상기 컴퓨터의 PCI 슬롯이나 AGP 슬롯에 설치된 VGA 카드(16)에 연결되어 비디오 신호를 제공받아 표시하는데 비하여, 상기 보조화면(24)은 상기 주화면(22)에 비하여 표시되는 데이터의 수가 적으므로 USB 포트(12)로부터 비디오 데이터를 전달받아 비디오 신호로 변환되어 출력되는 USB VGA 카드(14)에 의하여 화면이 표시된다.
여기서, 참고로 USB 포트의 초당 데이터 전송 속도를 다른 연결과 비교하여살펴보면 다음과 같다.
USB는 12Mbits(고속)과 1.5Mbits(저속) 등 두 가지의 전송 속도를 가지며, 시리얼 포트는 115kbits(0.115Mbits), 표준 병렬 포트는 115kbytes(0.115Mbytes), ECP/EPP 병렬포트는 3Mbytes, IDE는 3.3∼16.7Mbytes, SCSI는 5Mbytes(10Mbytes) 등의 전송 속도를 갖는다.
따라서, 8인치 정도의 크기를 갖는 보조화면(24)에 표시되는 비디오 데이터를 충분하게 전송할 수 있는 전송 속도를 갖고 있는 것이다.
특히, USB 포트(12)에 다른 주변 장치 예를 들어, 키보드, 마우스 등이 연결되어 있더라도 그들이 동작하는데 필요한 데이터의 양은 상대적으로 적기 때문에 상기 보조화면(24)으로 전송되는 비디오 데이터를 전송하는데 있어서는 전혀 상관없이 전송할 수 있다.
한편, TV 튜너(40)는 상기 컴퓨터(10)의 제어 즉, 채널 변경 제어, 볼륨 크기 제어를 받아 텔레비전 신호를 수신하여 출력하는 것으로, 그 출력 신호는 선택적으로 상기 주화면(22) 또는 보조화면(24)을 통하여 표시될 수 있다.
이를 위하여, 상기 제 1 및 제 2비디오 믹서(30, 35)에 의하여 상기 TV 튜너(40)의 출력 신호와 상기 VGA 카드(16) 또는 상기 USB VGA 카드(14)의 출력 신호가 합성되어 출력된다. 즉, 일반 비디오 오버레이 기능을 가지고 있어서, TV 화면 표시를 주화면(22)으로 할 때에는 VGA 카드(16)의 비디오 신호 출력 대신에 TV 튜너(40)의 TV 신호를 선택하여 표시하는 기능을 가지고 있다.마찬가지로, TV화면 표시를 보조화면(24)으로 할 때에는 USB VGA 카드(14)의 비디오 신호 출력 대신에 TV 튜너(40)의 TV 신호를 선택하여 표시하는 기능을 가지고 있다.
그리고, 상기 제 1 및 제 2비디오 믹서(30, 35)는 USB 포트(14)를 통하여 PC(10)에 의하여 제어되는 모니터 컨트롤러(42)에 의하여 그 동작이 제어된다.
이 때, 만일 USB VGA 카드(14)가 컴퓨터(10)의 USB 포트(12)와 연결되지 않았거나 컴퓨터(10)의 VGA 카드(16)와 모니터(20)의 비디오단자 즉, 주화면(22)과 보조화면(24)이 연결되지 않았을 경우에 모니터 프로텍터(44)가 이를 감지하여 모니터 컨트롤러(42)에 감지 결과를 입력하면, 상기 모니터 컨트롤러(42)는 상기 제 1비디오 믹서(30)와 제 2비디오 믹서(30)의 출력을 제어한다. 즉, USB VGA 카드(14)가 컴퓨터(10)의 USB 포트(12)와 연결되지 않았거나 컴퓨터(10)의 VGA 카드(16)와 주화면(22) 및 보조화면(24)이 연결되어 있지 않으면 연결되지 않은 화면으로 출력되는 비디오 믹서의 출력을 차단하는 것이다.
한편, 본 발명에서 사용하는 모니터(20)는 주화면(22)과 보조화면(24)으로 구성되어 TV 튜너(40)를 통해 수신되는 TV 방송을 주화면(22)이나 보조화면(24)을 선택하여 표시하도록 하여 시청할 수 있는데, TV 튜너(40)를 통해 수신되는 TV 방송의 시청을 특정인에 한하여 제한할 필요가 있을 수 있다.
이러한 경우를 위하여 TV 튜너(40)를 통하여 수신되는 방송 신호에 프로텍션 신호(Sp)를 부가하여 송출하고, 모니터 프로텍터(44)를 통하여 프로텍션 신호(Sp)를 검출하고, 이 검출된 프로텍션 신호(Sp)를 이용하여 상기 모니터 컨트롤러(42)를 이용하여 상기 제 1 및 제 2비디오 믹서(30, 35)의 동작을 제한하면 되는 것이다.
그리고, 상기 프로텍션 신호(Sp)에 의하여 TV 화면의 출력이 제한되면, 이를 해제하기 위하여 미리 제공된 해제 코드를 상기 PC(10)를 통하여 입력하고, 입력된 해제 코드는 모니터 컨트롤러(42)를 통하여 제 1 및 제 2비디오 믹서(30, 35)에 입력되어 TV 신호의 출력을 가능하게 한다.
이러한 시스템은 유료로 제공되는 케이블 TV의 방송 수신에 유용하게 적용할 수 있는데, 보통 케이블 TV의 경우에 방송을 송출할 때에 스크램블러(scrambler)를 통하여 방송 신호를 스크램블시켜서 송출하고, 케이블 TV 셋탑 박스(set top box)에 설치되는 디스크램블러(discrambler)를 통하여 스크램블을 해제하여 TV를 시청할 수 있도록 하고 있다.
따라서, PC를 이용하여 케이블 TV와 같은 방송을 시청하고자 하면 기존의 셋탑 박스를 별도로 설치하여 시청해야 하는 번거로움이 발생한다.
하지만, 본 발명을 이용하여 방송 신호에 프로텍션 신호(Sp)를 부가하여 송출하면, 상기 모니터 프로텍터(44)를 통해 검출된 프로텍션 신호(Sp)를 해제할 수 있는 해제 코드를 컴퓨터(10)를 통하여 입력한 사용자만이 방송을 시청할 수 있는 것이다.
그리고, 상기 PC(10)를 사용하는 사용자가 인터넷을 통하여 각종 정보를 제공하는 정보 제공 서버에 연결할 때에 해당 사이트에 회원으로 등록하여 해제 코드를 제공받은 경우에만 데이터를 제공받을 수 있도록 프로텍션 신호를 모니터(20)에 표시되는 데이터에 부가하여 전송함으로써 정보 제공에 대한 보안을 철저하게 취할 수 있는 것이다.
특히, 상기의 경우는 어린이나 청소년 등의 접근을 차단해야할 성인 정보를 제공하는 사이트에 접속하는 경우나, 제공되는 정보를 유료로 제공하는 사이트를 운영하는데 있어서 매우 유효하게 이용할 수 있는 것이다.
근래에 유료 사이트의 정보를 이용하기 위하여 회원 비용을 지불하지 않고 크래커 등에 의하여 크래킹된 회원 등록 정보를 이용하여 무단 접속하여 정보를 제공받는 불법적인 접속이 잦아지고 있는 실정에서는 상기 본 발명이 매우 적절한 방법이 될 수 있는 것이다.
상기와 같이 이루어진 본 발명은 주화면과 보조화면으로 이루어지는 모니터를 이용함으로써 보조화면을 통하여 별도의 내용이 표시되기 때문에 TV 시청과 주화면을 통한 작업이 화면 분할의 불편 없이 수행할 수 있으며, TV 시청이나 유료 인터넷 사이트의 정보를 제공받을 때에 전송되는 신호에 프로텍션 신호를 부가하여전송함으로써 사용자 관리를 보다 편리하게 할 수 있는 효과를 제공한다.
이상에서는 본 발명을 특정의 바람직한 실시예를 예로 들어 도시하고 설명하였으나, 본 발명은 상기한 실시예에 한정되지 아니하며 본 발명의 정신을 벗어나지 않는 범위 내에서 당해 발명이 속하는 기술 분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자에 의해 다양한 변경과 수정이 가능할 것이다.

Claims (7)

  1. 텔레비전 신호를 수신하여 출력하는 TV 튜너와;
    컴퓨터의 USB 포트를 통하여 비디오 데이터를 전달받아 비디오 신호로 변환하여 출력하는 USB VGA 카드와;
    상기 USB 비디오 카드로부터 출력되는 비디오 신호와 상기 TV 튜너로부터 출력되는 TV 신호를 합성시켜 출력하는 제 1비디오 믹서와;
    컴퓨터의 VGA 카드로부터 출력되는 비디오 신호와 상기 TV 튜너로부터 출력되는 TV 신호를 합성시켜 출력하는 제 2비디오 믹서와;
    상기 제 1비디오 믹서로부터 입력되는 비디오 신호를 표시해 주는 보조화면과, 상기 제 2비디오 믹서로부터 입력되는 비디오 신호를 표시해 주는 주화면으로 구성되는 모니터와;
    상기 제 1 및 제 2비디오 믹서의 동작을 제어하여, 상기 TV 튜너의 TV 신호를 주화면에 표시할 때에는 상기 VGA 카드의 비디오 신호 출력 대신에 TV 튜너의 TV 신호를 선택하고, 상기 보조화면으로 표시할 때에는 상기 USB VGA 카드의 비디오 신호 출력 대신에 TV 튜너의 TV 신호를 선택하는 모니터 컨트롤러로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 TV 화면 표시 시스템.
  2. 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 제 1비디오 믹서 또는 제 2비디오 믹서의 비디오 신호 출력을 제한해 주는 프로텍션 신호를 상기 TV 튜너 또는 상기 VGA 카드, USB VGA 카드를 통하여 검출하여 상기 모니터 컨트롤러를 통하여 상기 제 1 및 제 2비디오 믹서의 출력을 제한시켜 주는 모니터 프로텍터를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 TV 화면 표시 시스템.

  4. 제 2항에 있어서, 상기 모니터 프로텍터는 USB VGA 카드와 컴퓨터의 VGA 카드가 정상적으로 컴퓨터와 연결되어 신호가 흐르는지를 검사하여 상기 모니터 컨트롤러를 통해 제 1비디오 믹서와 제 2비디오 믹서의 비디오 신호의 출력을 제한함을 특징으로 하는 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 TV 화면 표시 시스템.
  5. 제 2항에 있어서, 상기 프로텍션 신호는 TV 신호에 부가되어 전송되는 것을 특징으로 하는 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 TV 화면 표시 시스템.
  6. 제 2항에 있어서, 상기 모니터 프로텍터에 의한 상기 제 1 및 제 2비디오 믹서의 출력 제한 제어는 상기 컴퓨터로부터 출력되어 프로텍션 기능을 해제하는 해제 코드에 의하여 해제되어 출력되는 것을 특징으로 하는 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 TV 화면 표시 시스템.
  7. 제 1항, 제 2항, 제 4항∼제 6항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 상기 컴퓨터를 이용하여 인터넷 사이트에 접속할 때에, 상기 주화면 또는 보조화면을 통하여 표시되는 비디오 신호에 상기 프로텍션 신호를 포함하여 출력하고, 상기 프로텍션 신호를 해제해 주는 해제 코드를 상기 컴퓨터를 이용하여 입력함으로써 주화면 또는 보조화면으로의 표시를 가능하게 해 주는 것을 특징으로 하는 주화면과 보조화면으로 구성된 이중 모니터를 이용한 컴퓨터의 TV 화면 표시 시스템.
