Abstract

PURPOSE: Provided are a method and an apparatus for eliminating specified hazardous substance in water by causing electric field in water to attract the contaminant toward an electrode so as for the contaminant to be attached to the electrode, and discharging the contaminant attached to the electrode into atmosphere in a form of nitrogen gas. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a controller(6) for controlling all the operation of a system such as current supply, a current supplier(3) electrically connected to the controller(6) for supplying negative current and positive current, and an electric field generator(1) connected to the controller for receiving the current from the current supplier(3) and generating electric field to collect and discharge contaminant. The method comprises the steps of dipping the electric field generator(1) into water containing contaminant to be eliminated, collecting the contaminant by generating electric field with opposite conductivity to the contaminant by the electric field generator(1), separating the electric field generator(1) from the water, and discharging the contaminant by generating electric field with the same conductivity as the contaminant.
