a barrel containing one or more heating elements;

A method of dispensing filament adhesive from a dispensing head comprising a heated barrel receiving a rotating screw, comprising:
feeding the filament adhesive through an inlet of the heated barrel, the inlet shearing the filament adhesive as it is drawn into the heated barrel; providing a slanted nip point that reduces
melting the filament adhesive within the heated barrel to provide a molten adhesive;
mixing said molten adhesive using at least one mixing element, optionally arranged on said rotating screw;
dispensing the molten adhesive through a spout at the distal end of the heated barrel.
