Preparation of catalyst 1:
Catalyst 1 was prepared by the incipient wetness method using 5 g of Norpro 3.2 mm alumina spherical pellets as the starting support material, to which was added a solution consisting of 0.19 g sodium gold thiosulfate , 0.2 g mercaptosuccinic acid, 0.06 g citric acid monohydrate, and about 5 g DI water, stirred for 30 minutes before addition. The catalyst was then placed in a box oven with a constant air purge of about 50 LPH at room temperature for 1 hour, then calcined at 400°C using a temperature ramp of 5°C/min and held at 400°C for 4 hours.

Preparation of catalyst 2:
