Description
The present invention relates to an input device that is mounted on a portable device or other electronic device and operates by bringing a finger or the like into contact with an operation panel.
The following
In the above, a plurality of pressure sensors are used, and the position coordinates of the pressing point are calculated based on the output of each pressure sensor.
However, in the conventional input device and the pressing point detection method using the same, it is difficult to reduce the positional coordinate deviation between the actual pressing point and the calculated pressing point. That is, no matter where the operation surface is pressed by the support structure of the operation panel or the like, the load corresponding to the pressing point does not accurately act on each pressure sensor. There is also a variation in sensitivity of each pressure sensor. Therefore, for example, even if the position coordinates of the pressing point are calculated based on the sensor output of each pressure sensor on the basis of the lever principle, the position coordinates of the actual pressing point and the calculated pressing point in the entire operation surface The deviation could not be reduced. In addition, a simple calculation formula cannot be obtained, for example, a correction value based on the load parameter is required in the calculation formula for the press point, and the calculation burden on the control unit increases. There was also a problem that was easy to decrease.
The present invention solves the above-described conventional problems, and in particular, an object of the present invention is to provide an input device and a pressing point detection method capable of improving the detection accuracy of the pressing point as compared with the conventional technique.
The input device in the present invention is
A plurality of pressure sensors arranged on the back side of the operation surface of the operation panel;
Each normalized output is calculated by dividing each sensor output obtained from each pressing sensor when operating on the operation surface by the total output obtained by adding each sensor output, and using each normalized output, 2 A control unit that calculates the position coordinates of the pressing point by polynomial approximation by multiple regression equations of the following order;
It is characterized by having.
The pressing point detection method of the input device in the present invention is
When operating on the operation surface where a plurality of press sensors are arranged on the back side of the operation panel, the control unit obtains each sensor output obtained from each press sensor when operating on the operation surface. Each normalized output is calculated by dividing each sensor output by the total output, and the position coordinates of the pressing point are calculated by polynomial approximation using a multiple regression equation of second or higher order using each normalized output. To do.
As described above, in the present invention, a normalized output is used as a variable, and a multiple regression equation can be used without requiring a load parameter. In the present invention, by calculating the position coordinates of the pressing point by polynomial approximation based on the second or higher order multiple regression equation using the normalized output, the positional coordinate deviation between the calculated pressing point and the actual pressing point can be reduced. The detection accuracy of the pressing point can be improved.
In the present invention, it is preferable to use a multiple regression equation having a third or higher order term. Thereby, the deviation between the calculated pressing point and the actual pressing point can be reduced more effectively over the entire operation surface.
In the present invention, the pressure sensor is arranged opposite to the periphery of the operation surface in two different directions, and calculates a difference between the normalized outputs of the pressure sensors arranged opposite to each other. It is preferable to calculate the position coordinates of the pressed point by polynomial approximation using a multiple regression equation having a third-order or higher term. When a calculation error is likely to occur due to inferior linearity of each sensor output, the calculation error can be reduced by using the difference between the normalized outputs of the pressure sensors arranged opposite to each other, and the detection accuracy of the pressing point is increased. It can improve more effectively. However, the configuration using the difference is limited to the case of using a multiple regression equation having a third-order or higher term.
Further, by using the difference, the number of terms in the multiple regression equation can be reduced, and the calculation burden on the control unit can be reduced.
In the above, the pressure sensor may be arranged at the four corners of the peripheral portion of the operation surface, or may be arranged to face each other with the X direction and the Y direction orthogonal to each other passing through the approximate center of the operation surface as the two directions. .
According to the input device and the pressing point detection method of the present invention, the deviation between the calculated pressing point and the actual pressing point can be effectively reduced over the entire operation surface.

As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, by providing a
Each of the
The
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
In addition, the support structure of the pressure sensors 5-8 in the
As shown in FIG. 3, the

“Standardized output” will be described.

First, as initial settings, correction coefficients a1 to a15 and b1 to b15 are calculated. The correction coefficient is calculated in advance before shipment, and in the present embodiment, the user can change the correction coefficient himself. The
Hereinafter, the calculation steps of the correction coefficients a1 to a15 and b1 to b15 in the calibration mode will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG.
First, as shown in FIG. 5, the
When not in the normal mode, the mode shifts to the calibration mode.
First, in the calibration mode, as shown in FIG. 1, the
The user presses the calibration pressing points p01 to p35 in order (step ST3). In the
Then, an output table in which the X and Y coordinates of each calibration pressing point are associated with each normalized output is created (step ST5).
An example is shown below.
In addition, each sensor output shown in Table 1 is measured by pressing each of the press points p01 to p35 with a certain load (for example, 1N). However, as shown below, the data necessary for obtaining the correction coefficient is the position coordinate of the pressing point and each normalized output, and the load value is not taken into consideration. For example, in this embodiment, it is determined on the basis of all outputs, and when all outputs are within a certain range, it is determined that the measurement is normal and load measurement is not required.
Table 1 lists not only the X and Y coordinates of each calibration pressing point and each normalized output, but also each sensor output. The output table in Table 1 is stored in the storage unit of the
After confirming whether or not the measurement at all calibration pressing points p01 to p35 is completed (step ST6), the correction coefficients a1 to a15 and b1 to b15 of

The correction coefficients a1 to a15 and b1 to b15 calculated as described above are stored in the correction value table.
The normal mode will be described.
When the user presses on the
As shown in FIG. 5, the correction coefficients a1 to a15 and b1 to b15 of
Then, the image display process of the liquid crystal display 3 is performed based on the coordinate data of the pressing point calculated in step ST10 (step ST11 in FIG. 5).
FIG. 6 is a simulation result when the pressing point is calculated by polynomial approximation by the quadratic multiple regression equation shown in
As shown in FIG. 6, it was found that the actual pressing point and the calculated pressing point almost coincided with each other near the center of the operation surface. However, it has been found that there is a slight deviation between the actual pressing point in the vicinity of the periphery of the operation surface and the calculated pressing point.
In the present embodiment, the amount of deviation between the actual pressing point and the calculated pressing point can be reduced more effectively by using a third or higher order multiple regression equation. However, as the degree increases, the number of terms in the multiple regression equation increases accordingly, that is, the correction coefficient increases. In this case, in order to obtain the correction coefficient, it is necessary that the number of calibration pressing points shown in the output table of Table 1 is larger than the number of correction coefficients (number of terms). By the way, the number of terms is 35 if the third-order multiple regression equation using each of the above normalized outputs as a variable, and the number of terms is 70 if the fourth-order multiple regression equation using each of the above-mentioned normalized outputs as a variable. If the 5th order multiple regression equation with each normalized output is a variable, the number of terms is 126. Therefore, when using a multiple regression equation of the third or higher order, it is necessary to further increase the calibration pressing points p01 to p35 shown in FIG.
If the number of terms increases in this way, there are too many calibration pressing points when performing calibration for resetting the correction coefficient, and the calculation burden on the

As shown in FIG. 13A, when the linearity of the sensor outputs s1 to s4 decreases, the normalized outputs of the
As described above, by using the difference (S1-S4, S2-S3) of each normalized output, the number of terms of the multiple regression equation of the third or higher order can be reduced.

As shown in FIG. 11, in each of Comparative Examples 1 to 3, the calculated pressing point is greatly deviated from the actual pressing point, and the calculated pressing point is particularly similar to the actual pressing point. They no longer line up in a grid. Thus, in Comparative Examples 1 to 3, the positional coordinate deviation between the calculated pressing point and the actual pressing point is approximated by a polynomial approximation using a quadratic multiple regression equation using the normalized output as shown in FIG. As a result, the position coordinates of the pressing point were larger than those calculated.
Therefore, the use of the difference between the standardized outputs is limited to the case where the position coordinates of the pressing point are calculated by polynomial approximation using a third-order or higher multiple regression equation.

As shown in FIG. 12, the calculated pressing points are greatly deviated from the actual pressing points, and the calculated pressing points are not arranged in a substantially lattice pattern like the actual pressing points. As described above, it is necessary to use the difference (S1−S4, S2−S3) of the normalized output of the pressure sensor arranged oppositely on the diagonal line as the variable used in the multiple regression equation of the third or higher order. (See FIGS. 7 to 9). In addition, when each press sensor 5-8 is arrange | positioned like FIG. 14, the difference (S1-S4) of the
The characteristic part of the
Thus, in this embodiment, the normalized output is used as a variable. The normalized output is a value obtained by dividing each sensor output by the total output. As a result, the normalized output can be easily calculated. Then, by using a multiple regression equation with the normalized output as a variable, the pressing point can be calculated without requiring a load parameter. Therefore, no load measurement is required, and the pressing point can be detected appropriately regardless of the load. As shown in FIG. 6 to FIG. 9, in this embodiment, the calculated pressure coordinates are calculated by calculating the position coordinates of the pressure points by polynomial approximation using a multiple regression equation of the second or higher order using each normalized output. The deviation between the point and the actual pressing point can be reduced, and the detection accuracy of the pressing point can be improved.
Further, the position coordinates of the pressing point are calculated by polynomial approximation by the third or higher order multiple regression equations shown in FIGS. 7 to 9 rather than by the polynomial approximation by the second order multiple regression equation shown in FIG. It is more preferable to improve the detection accuracy of the pressing point more effectively. It is more preferable to calculate the difference between the standardized outputs of the pressure sensors arranged opposite to each other and calculate the position coordinates of the pressure point by polynomial approximation using a third-order or higher multiple regression equation using each difference. Thereby, the detection accuracy of a pressing point can be improved more effectively. Further, the number of terms in the multiple regression equation can be reduced, and the calculation burden on the
