Abstract

PURPOSE:To solve various problems caused around an optical path of pre-exposure light, for example, damages of the surface of a drum by setting at a low level the reflectance of destaticizing pre-exposure light reflected by a surface that faces the primary electrostatic charging device of a cleaning member adjacent to an image carrier. CONSTITUTION:The optical path 11 of destaticizing pre-exposure light by a light source lamp 10 is provided in the space between the primary electrostatic charging device 2 and a cleaning device 9, and a hood 2A which intercepts light (a) from directly going into the primary electrostatic charging device 2 is formed integrally on the edge of a shield board on the side of the optical path 11. A light diffusion layer 12 or a light absorption layer is provided on the side facing the primary electrostatic charging device 2 of a cleaning blade 9A, and the reflectance of said face is lowered. Among pre-exposure light beams, the one which hits on the surface of the cleaning member is hardly reflected and the infiltration of pre-exposure light into the primary electrostatic charging device decreases; therefore the space between the shield board of the primary electrostatic charging device and the image carrier can be widened. Thus damages of the image carrier, deterioration on the surface of the image carrier and deterioration in the picture quality can be prevented.
