Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve heat efficiency, by preheating a granular raw material with a fuel preheated with a waste gas of combustion gas, in melting the granular raw material with the combustion gas by burner and producing a silicic acid as a silicic acid rod from the melt. CONSTITUTION:A granular raw material 6 such as silica cut off from a raw material hopper 1 is charged into a melting oven from central part of burner 5 in the upper part of the melting oven 15. On the other hand, a fuel gas 16 is burned at outlet of the burner 5 to form flame 7. The raw material 6 attains melt zone 8 of silicic acid in the oven while being heated in state enveloped in flames and completely melted and the melt is pulled as silicic acid rod. Discharge gas 19 generated in the furnace enters into an equipment 22 for preheating fuel gas in inlet side of the burner 5 from an discharge inlet 10 through a flow rate-controlling valve 21 and passes through a preheating tube 24 heat-insulating by insulation 25 with concentric circle of a fuel gas 16-charging tube 23. At this time, the discharge gas 19 preheats the fuel gas 19 and further the raw material 6 is preheated by the fuel gas 16 preheated.
