Abstract

PURPOSE:To impart stable triboelectrifiability and to enhance fluidity and storage stability by attaching or incorporating a specified inorganic material particles each combined on the surface with a chain polymer having an electric charge controlling function to or in the surface of each toner particle. CONSTITUTION:The fine particles of at least one kind of the inorganic material selected from metal oxides, carbonates, and silicates, such as silica, magnesia, titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, calcium silicate, and sodium silicate, preferably, silica and titanium dioxide, are combined on the surfaces with the chain polymer having a charge controlling function by graft polymerizing the chain polymer in the presence of tetravalent Ce ions, and preferably, pretreating the surfaces with a coupling agent having vinyl groups before the reaction.
