Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the title foam which is excellent in a capability of absorbing impact and is light and inexpensive, by expanding a polymer component comprising an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene and a specified high-loss factor material. CONSTITUTION:A polymer component is obtained by mixing 30-80wt.% ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer (A) of a vinyl acetate content <=26wt.%, preferably, of 10-20wt.%, with 5-40wt.% syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene (B) and, optionally, 10-40wt.% high-loss factor material (C) of a resiliency (at 25 deg.C) <=20%, which is an optionally oil-extended high-styrene styrene/butadiene copolymer rubber, a high-styrene styrene/isoprene copolymer rubber, a high- acrylonitrile acrylonitrile/butadiene copolymer rubber, PVC or norbornene rubber. This component is optionally mixed with a filler, a plasticizer, a blowing agent (aid), etc., and the mixture is expanded and cured by heating to obtain the title foam of a specific gravity of 0.05-0.6.
