Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a thermoplastic elastomer compsn. having good resistance to heat and weather, tensile characteristics, flexiblity and resilience, by mixing a specified crosslinkable type rubber, a decomposable plastic and a non-crosslinkable rubber together, and dynamically heat-treating the mixture.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture consisting of 90W40pts.wt. peroxide-crosslinkable olefin copolymer rubber (A), 10W60pts.wt. peroxide-decomposable olefinic plastic (B) (the sum of components A and B being 100pts.wt.), and 5W100pts.wt. peroxide-noncrosslinkable hydrocarbon rubber material (excluding polyisobutyrene and an isobutynene-isoprene copolymer rubber), is molten and kneaded in the presence of an org. peroxide. Pref. the kneading is conducted in an inert gas such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide gas atmosphere by using a closed device.
