Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the title compsn. contg. poly-2,5-thienylenevinylene obtd. by treating a specified polymer precursor for the elimination of its alkoxy group and a dopant as essential components, which is very excellent in conductivity and useful as electric and electronic materials. CONSTITUTION:A 2,5-thienylenedimethylene bissulfonium salt monomer of formula I (where R2-3 are 1-10C hydrocarbon groups; A<-> is a halogen, OH, COOH, BF4 or a counter ion such as perchlorate ion) is submitted to a condensation polymn., and the polymer has its side chain substd. with an alkoxy group (OR1 group) to give a polythienylenevinylene polymer precursor consisting of recurring units of formula II (where R1 is R2). The product is then treated for the elimination of its alkoxy group by heating, for example, at 0-400 deg.C for 1min-10hr to give poly-2,5-thienylenevinylene A. The component A is then doped by adding thereto a dopant B such as an electron acceptor (a), e.g., a halogen compd. or a Lewis acid or an electron donor (b), e.g., an alkali metal or a quat. NH4 salt.
