Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable quick and handy execution of measurement of gel physical property of an object to be measured employing a non-destructive inspection, by measuring an attenuation factor of an acoustic pressure of an ultrasonic wave propagating through the object being inspected. CONSTITUTION:A test piece is rested on a probe of an A type scope for metal flaw detection and an ultrasonic wave is incident into the test piece from the probe to detect the state of attenuation of the ultrasonic wave at that time by a pulse method. This detecting operation is performed separately for a specified number of test pieces to calculate the attenuation factor of each test piece. In this case, there is a very close correlativity between the attenuation factor and a Young's modulus actually measured.
