Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve propulsion performance, in a tanker having a buttock flow type stern, by providing an additional section projecting downward on the bottom and fixing bilge keel shaped fins to the additional section. CONSTITUTION:In a vessel having a buttock flow type stern 1, and additional section 4 projecting downward from the bottom 2 is formed surrounding a thrust shaft 3. Bilge keel shaped fins 5 are fixed to the additional section 4 from 3/2-1/2 points of the square station of the hull. The fins 5 are arranged approximately in vertical to the fixing face within a range where the fins do not project farther downward than the base line 6 of vessel. Consequently, three-dimensional separating vortex is produced from the fin 5 section, when the vessel sails forward, and fed to a thrust face so as to increase accompany flow coefficient thus improving propulsion performance.
