Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic having excellently protecting and cleaning actions on the skin, containing an extracted solution of culture mixture of a mold of the genus Monascus. CONSTITUTION:A mold (e.g. Monascus albidus or Monascus anka) belonging to the genus Monascus is cultivated at 15-40 deg.C for 3-10 days, solid content is removed from the prepared culture mixture by filtration or centrifugal separation and further the resulting substance is sterilely filtered to give an extracted solution of culture mixture, which is added to a cosmetic. Various hydrolases (e.g. protease or lipase), vitamins, peptide and various amino acids are contained in the extracted solution of culture mixture, cleaning action is increased by synergistic action thereof and aging of the skin is suppressed.
