Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution at the reception side by sending a transmission signal light modulated by a pulse code series to be sent and a timing signal light modulated by a clock signal as respective independent polarized wave components of a constant polarization fiber. CONSTITUTION:An optical transmitter 12 outputs an intensified modulation light based on a pulse code series inputted from an input terminal 11 and an optical transmitter 14 outputs an intensified modulation light (timing signal light) based on the clock signal from a clock source 13. A semiconductor laser being a component of the optical transmitters 12, 14 radiates substantially a linearly polarized light, then the polarized wave lights are synthesized by a polarized beam splitter 16. In such a case, since the transmission signal light and the clock signal light have orthogonal polarized components, the polarized wave component is sent independently by the constant polarization fiber 17. Thus, no clock extraction at the reception side extracting the timing signal from a sent pulse code series is required, then the circuit constitution is simplified.
