Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate an exclusive fastening unit, to make a cell system compact, and to simplify the assembly of a cell by bonding gas headers each of which supplies gas to a gas passage through a sealant to the upper and lower parts of a stacked cell main body. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte plate 6 placed between two electrodes, and a separator 5 in which a gas massage is formed and gas supply grooves are also formed on its both sides are alternately stacked to form a fuel cell main body. An upper end plate 3 is put on the upper end of a stacked cell and a lower end plate 4 on its lower end, and each of gas heaters 1 used for supplying fuel or oxidizing agent is bonded to the end plate 3 or 4 through the sealant 2. As the sealant 2, for example, a ceramic substrate made of lithium aluminate is used. Carbonate which melts at the operating temperature or higher of a fuel cell is impregnated in the substrate so that no voids exist in it. Surface pressure is applied to the whole fuel cell from upper and lower sides to ensure gas sealing effect.
