PURPOSE:To impress magnetic fields, in which directions are mutually reverse, to respective irradiating points by detecting a transmitting light from the recording and deleting spots of an optical magnetic disk or an infrared emitted from the heated recording and deleting spots through transparent gaps. CONSTITUTION:A first light spot 8a is successively projected, simultaneously, the magnetic field in a prescribed direction is impressed, and information recorded beforehand is deleted. Simultaneously, a second light spot 8b modulated by a signal to be newly recorded is projected, simultaneously, the information is rewritten by impressing the magnetic field in which the direction is reverse to the time of deleting, and an overlight is executed. Further, through transparent gaps 35 and 36, the transmitting light and infrared from the recording or deleting spot on an optical magnetic disk 6 are detected, and the impressing positions of the magnetic fields are controlled. Thus, the magnetic fields in the mutually reverse directions can be always impressed to the recording and deleting spots.
