Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of troubles caused by the difference in paper thickness and to always obtain an excellent copy regardless of the paper thickness by changing a fixing temperature according to the paper thickness of a transfer sheet. CONSTITUTION:Just after the transfer sheet fed from a specified cassette by an accessing roller passes a paper supply roller, the thickness of the transfer sheet is measured by a paper thickness detector and the information of the paper thickness which is A/D converted by an A/D converter 39 is incorporated in a microprocessor 41. The microprocessor 41 compares the paper thickness value incorporated in the microprocessor 41 with a table stored in a ROM 43 by referring to said table and decides the fixing temperature in accordance with the paper thickness value to control the on/off of a SSR 26 through an input/output interface 52. It is detected by a thermistor 29 whether or not a fixing roller 16 attains the set fixing temperature, so that the specified value of temperature can be kept. Thus, the stable copy can be always obtained regardless of the thickness of the transfer sheet.
