Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent reliability from being lowered due to heat generation, by comparing the output of the primary side coil of a transformer to which the output of a switching transistor turning a DC power source ON/OFF is applied, with the output of a voltage detecting coil with the equal number of turns. CONSTITUTION:Pulse generated by turning a DC power source 1 ON/OFF with a switching transistor 2 is applied to the primary winding 5A of a transformer 5, and the output of a secondary winding 5B is rectified 3 and applied to a load. At the same time, from a tertiary winding 5C, output is fetched. The number of the turns of the tertiary winding 5C is the same as that of the primary winding 5A, and to a space between terminals with the same phase as that of the primary winding 5A, a Zener diode 6, a resistor 7, and a photo- coupler 8 are connected in series. When the load is overloaded, then a difference between the counterelectromotive forces of the windings 5A and 5C is increased, and the Zener diode 6 is turned ON, and the photo-coupler 8 is turned conductive, and the output of excess current signal is generated. As a result, an excess current detecting resistor is not needed, and reliability is prevented from being lowered due to heat generation.
