Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve rotary distance detection accuracy by providing specific magneto-resistance element pattern couples on a magneto-resistance element at specific intervals and generating pulse signals as many as the couples. CONSTITUTION:The magneto-resistance element 2 has two couples of magneto- resistance element patterns 5 and 5', and 6 and 6', one couple of magneto- resistance element patterns are provided at a distance 1/2L, and the other couple of magneto-resistance element patterns 6 and 6' are provided at an interval (1+1/4)L with the couple of magneto-resistance element patterns 5 and 5'. The magneto-resistance element pattern couples 5 and 5', and 6 and 6' generate signals (a) and (a') which alternate according to the movement of the flank of a magnetized body, and the signal processing circuit consisting of comparators 8 and 8', an AND circuit 11, a NOR circuit 12, and an AND circuit 11' processes the signals (a) and (a') to generate two pulse signals (d) proportional to the movement distance of a magnetized pattern, thereby improving the measurement accuracy.
