Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a copolymer useful as a primer for automobiles and an electrodeposition coating compound for household electric appliances, having excellent low-temperature curing properties, weather resistance and corrosion resistance, consisting of a blocked isocyanate compound and a tertiary amine- containing ethylenic unsaturated monomer. CONSTITUTION:(A) 1-50wt.% compound (e.g. isopropenyl-alpha) shown by the formula (R is H or methyl; B is residue of blocking agent) is blended with (B) 0-98wt.%, preferably 70-90wt.% ethylenic unsaturated monomer (e.g. dimethylaminoethyl acrylate) containing a tertiary amino group and/or tertiary ammonium group and optionally (C) 1-50wt.% hydroxyl group-containing ethylenic unsaturated monomer to give the aimed copolymer which will not be gelatinized even by preservation at 45 deg.C for 3 months, has excellent shelf stability, is baked at a temperature 30-75 deg.C lower than that of an existing coating compound and can reduce labor.
