Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve heat resistance and press-moldability by incorporating SiO2, Al2O3, B2O3, Na2O, K2O and Li2O, etc., at prescribed rate and regulating linear expansion coefficient, annealing point and softening point, etc., to a specified range. CONSTITUTION:Glass for a halogen lamp reflector is formed by composition consisting of by wt.% 68-82% SiO2, 0.5-5% Al2O3, 10-18% B2O3, 3.5-8% (Na2O+K2O+Li2O), 0-3% (CaO+MgO) and 0.05-1% (NaCl+CaF+As2O3+Sb2 O3). This glass has (35-50)X10<-7>/ deg.C linear expansion coefficient, 530-570 deg.C annealing point, 750-820 deg.C softening point, 1,100-1,200 deg.C operation temp. and prescribed thermal shock resistance. This thermal shock resistance is defined as such a state that a plate glass having 150mm square and 3mm thickness is held in a furnace in 15min and thereafter even when it is quenched in water of 140-170 deg.C temp. difference with furnace temp., a crack is not generated.
