Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having excellent preservability, particularly, water resistance, oil resistance and plasticizer resistance, by providing a resin material derived from an aqueous resin dispersion produced by a phase inversion method and having a specified particle diameter, in or on a thermal color forming layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material comprises a thermal color forming layer on a base. In the recording material, the thermal color forming layer comprises a colorless or light-colored electron-donative dye and an electron- acceptive compound capable of color development by reacting with the dye, and a resin material derived from an aqueous resin dispersion having an average particle diameter of 0.001-0.2mum is provided in and/or on the thermal color forming layer. If the average particle diameter of the resin material of the aqueous resin dispersion is more than 0.2mum, a film-forming property is unsatisfactory, whereas the material with an average particle diameter of 0.001mum is difficult to produce. The aqueous resin dispersion may be at least one aqueous acrylic or urethane resin dispersion or the like.
