Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable printing with high precision in such a method that the angular part of an opening is formed sharply by forming an opening pattern with a plurality of mask openings which consists of a thin nickel coat formed by electrolytic deposition. CONSTITUTION:A chrome coat 12 is provided by vapor evaporation on one surface of a flat plate glass substrate 11 to form a chrome coated substrate 13. Then a coat opening pattern 15 with a plurality of rectangular coat openings 14 arranged as predetermined is formed by applying a photolithography method to the chrome coat 12. The chrome-coated substrate 13 with a coat opening pattern 15 is immersed in nitrate, e.g., a nickel plating bath. In this way, nickel is allowed to precipitate on the surface of the chrome coat 12 by electrolysis to obtain a nickel coat 16. The nickel coat 16 is separated to obtain a metal mask 17 consisting of the nickel coat 16. The mask opening 20 of the mask 17 has a sharply formed angular part 21 and a thin coat, so that screen printing with high precision can be performed.
