Abstract

PURPOSE:To generate dot data between the two coordinates of bending point data by determining a line segment to link the interval between the farthest points of the dot areas of the two coordinates and giving the dot data to the coordinate to be close to this line segment. CONSTITUTION:A digital line segment generator generates the dot data of the line segment between a starting point coordinate (XS, YS) and an ending point coordinate (XE, YE) and this device is composed of a line segment determining means and a dot data generating means. The line segment determining means determines the line segment to link the farthest point of the dot area of the starting point coordinate and the farthest point of the dot area of the ending point coordinate. After the line segment to link these two points is determined, the dot data generating means generates the dot data at the coordinate which is between the starting point coordinate and the ending point coordinate and close to the above-mentioned line segment, so that the error of this line segment can be small. Thus, a smooth contour can be derived.
