Abstract
PURPOSE: To form a polymer having fluid resistivity and thermally softenability by applying a specific mol.wt. of a prepolymer which is a specific polymerizable urethane polymer and contains a terminal-NCO group on a surface, then bringing a compd. to impart active hydrogen into contact therewith. CONSTITUTION: The prepolymer forming the viscoelastic polymerizable urethane polymer which is obtd. by bringing a diisocyanate having an -NCO to -OH ratio of about 1.25:1 to 3.0:1 and polymerizable polyol into reaction, has the terminal-NCO group, has a mol.wt. of about 1,000 to 10,000, exhibits a crystalline m.p. of 40 deg.C and heats to the crystalline m.p. or above after chain extension is applied on the surfaces of articles. The compd. to impart the active hydrogen is then brought into contact with the polymerizable urethane polymer and is brought into reaction with the -NCO group, by which the polymerizable urethane polymer is subjected to chain extension and the tough polymerizable urethane polymer having the thermally softenability while having the fluid resistivity is obtd.
